That's called female determination, Addy!
My story about men and getting stuck goes this way. My dad had a narrow front end Allis Chalmers old tractor. He was mowing his pond edge, and got stuck. So, he went to get his 4WD truck, and promptly got it stuck. Not just stuck, mind you, but down to the axles. Can we say, stop spinning when you get the tires full of mud? Nope, he was what I refer to as a typical man, "If I go faster, I might get out!" Luckily, he had a D something or other bulldozer, the smallest one that Cat makes. Got that fired up and pulled everything out. LOL
My ex got his car stuck in a ditch that was deeper than the car was tall. Told me to get in. I asked "why?". He said he was going to push me out! LOL He was drunk, don't you know. Told him nope, wasn't going to even try. City truck came by and pulled him out.
OK, off of men and getting stuck. I've learned from these two men that when the wheels start spinning, I just quit and call for help. :) I would have liked to have seen your little Kubota pulling that big tandem truck up your hill! Did your DH possibly take any pics for you???

He was at work, so missed all the fun. This guy knew not to keep spinning and digging deeper. The kubota does not have a ton of power, but does have that turtle mode, slow and steady.

here in cumbria we have a pair of ospreys that return every year to nest by a lake about 15 miles away from where i live, now they are talking about re-introducing the sea eagle back to cumbria, in the report that was published i was surprised to read that the osprey are bringing in £1.5m a year (without them even knowing it), just amazed me at the money made from wildlife !

Its been so cold here the bog plants are coming in very slowly. But, they are all alive and have grown just a bit of new green. I was a little worried about them as they were planted very late in the Fall. I can't wait to see them when it warms up!

Baeya, how are your baby fish? I was going to post on your other thread, but since you were here ... :)

They are doing great! Thanks for asking! It's still very cold here and all the fish are hanging at the bottom. We had a warm week a few weeks ago and I did feed a little bit for a couple days but, then it got cold again and of course they weren't interested. I just have a few cosmetic things to take care of this year that I didn't finish last year and I will be able to enjoy the season in my beautiful and clear pond!

I'm jealous ... anyone with clear ponds make me jealous. LOL I'm hoping once we get past the new pond effect, just turned the filter on in big pond, and got the bog going on the new pond, that the bacteria will replenish itself and clear up my ponds. It was so clear in the wintertime, so this is hard again to not be able to see to the bottom. But, as last year proved, it will get better as the weather warms and the bacteria kicks in. Or, was it I have to deal with pea soup first, THEN the pond will clear?! :)

algal(sp?) bloom is totally normal for all ponds esp new ones in the Spring. It will clear. Strive for 1/3rd of the surface covered by plants. Water hyacinth is one ofthe best for this. It grows so fast, I was trashing an entire plant everyday! lol. Also helps to seed with bacteria once a week. You can also get some water from another local pond that is clear because you know that the microbes in their water will grom in your local water.

Good ideas, Malak. I need to add the beneficial bacteria again today. But, the only local pond I know of close by is my farm pond, and it is anything but clear. LOL It's more like brown water, so don't want to introduce that into my pond. Also, I know there are or at lesat used to be leeches in there, so have to be careful of that as well. Will go get some more of the water primrose from there, but it's still not growing very well yet. I've got some in my other pond bog, and it's started to grow, but slowly. The local nursery is not selling hyacinths yet, says it is still too cold, and with the last couple of nights getting down to 40's, he's probably right. It's my plant to put a bunch of hyacinths in the new pond, and hope that the goldies don't munch too much on the roots and they can grow and multiply. That way, if I get to the point of needing to thin them out, I can put them in the koi pond and let them munch away!
