hey ive had a few american people knocking on my door today, trying to talk me into the church of mormon ! wasnt intrested tho, not really a religious person myself, i go to church when i have to attend weddings etc !

About 8 streets from my house in arizona they are building one of those huge morman temples, the tower is to be lit up until 11pm every night. We have no streets lights, nice dark valley. Not any more. They are persistent.

OK, not wanting to offend anyone, and since I can't remember the joke for sure, I'll say it referred to EITHER Morman's or Jehovah's Witnesses ... but the comedian said it something like this:

I heard that Mormans believe that only 3400 people go to heaven. If that's the case, why are they always trying to convert more people? Seems they should be getting rid of followers to bring the numbers down so they might have a chance!

As a side note, I always felt bad for the JW's that came door to door, always dressed in a suit and tie, always heat of summer, 95 degrees and 100% humidity. But, I still didn't take their literature. Just told them, "Not interested." My mom said that if you tell them you are not interested, they are supposed to remove your name and address from their list. Not sure for how long, but I don't remember getting repeat "offenders" soon after that!

i always tell them i am not intrested, but every year they come knock again ! both mormons and jahova's, maybe they checking to see if i have changed my mind lol, yes they are persistant even after i told them i wasnt intrested they stod and kept me talking for 15 minutes, nothing against them, they seemed like decent guys, they where only young in their mid 20's i would say,

We used to be visited constantly in arizona, finally told them we were catholic, that was the last time they came back. Late hubby actually was catholic.

Here we are rural enough, in the 3 years I have been here, only one group of older church ladies have stopped by. They never made it out of the car I said thanks, had my shovel in my hand sweating, dirty, digging holes lol.

Haha, Todd, I should not have shortened that one! I meant Jehovia Witnesses! OMG, I would welcome JW with open arms, and she knows that! :razz: :razz:

About 15 years ago I was having a talk with my daughter about the weekly visits by the Witnesses, and told her I had heard that they don't believe Jews can get to heaven. The wife and I weren't home when the J.W.s called the next time, and when they asked our daughter if we were in, she replied, "No, they are at the Synagogue." For fifteen years, no Witnesses came to our door! And we're not even Jewish!

jw here and not a J.W but my half sister told me that our blood mother was one. She was also an alcoholic schizoid. I never lived w/ her but my poor sis did off and on and mostly off but just enough to be bad for sis! Not saying there is anything wrong w/ being a J.W or a Mormon or any other religion................everybody is just trying to do what they think is right, just saying my blood mother was kinda weird..................well actually a lot of weird!

So, after seeing your silly pup, I took this picture this morning of my Boston. Guess she decided she wanted top bunk! Smokey, the beagle, doesn't seem to mind. LOL
