Learn something new . I was told skin was poisonous sounds like because the spray the heck out of it thus de shell
I'm only about 15 minutes from Ocean Spray headquarters, we know our cranberries here lol. But it is a nice plant, can grow over the edge, but has a real nice crimson color in the Fall, driving by the bogs in Fall is nice when they are doing the harvesting and flooding the bogs to get the berries to float.

This is why we're discourage pipes to drain a bog by gravity.

Your pipe is under pressure and is throwing so much water yes the water level can be several inches above the spill way. My pond is higher than the weir/ negative edge as is the bog to the waterfall. There's nothing wrongvwith the water above the gravel just dome plants won't like it while I there prefer it like cranberries
Sorry, not sure I understand. I thought everyone feeds the pipe manifold by a pipe from the pump. The bog is higher than the pond. I just not understanding "pipes to drain a bog".

Totally agree, we used to rent in Chatham, not any more. Too crowded. But the real cranberry bogs are before you get to the Cape, Carver and Wareham

some of the particularly raised pond folks want to use a pvc pipe as a drain pipe out of the bog instead of making a weir . and when i say yes you have one 2" pipe going in but that's under pressure and you'll need three 2 inch pipes to sufficiently drain out of the filter

It was nice tonight sitting on the porch with a campfire and the pond in the background, listening to the waterfalls. And watching the bats from the barn dance around

Oh ok, did not realize people did that. Picture is of the bog before filling in the gravel, the water leaves in the top left of the attached picture. Guess I can just play with the gravel a little bit to have higher areas for some of the plants. It will work out.

I have gravel below, even, and higher than the water in the bog. Mine drains via weeping over in spots along a long bog wall, primary flow is via the 3 foot wide waterfall rock.

It does not matter what level the water is except to some of the plants.

I have found out 1 two inch feed into a area needs 2 two inch exit pipes to keep up with the in flow of water.

Thanks @addy1 that makes me feel better. I had seen so many people talk about the water being just at or a little below the gravel top that I was a little concerned. I did leave plenty of liner for it to go higher since there were many comments to leave space once the plants grow and push the water up. More rain today and more flood watches so the water level is going up again lol

Turkeys, geese, chickens - they're all terrifying beasts. Grew up running from them on my uncle's farm. He thought it was hilarious - I thought it was a horror movie! Best day ever was butchering day - we had a few months of peace before the cute little chicks turned into menacing farm yard bullies again! haha!
Oh how I wish I had a video of this event, a young man with very baggy pants that hung below his azz decided he was going to tease a goose a large one with a big knot on his head. Dang thing stood close t o 4 feet tall.
Well this young man thought it would be funny or just an overall good idea to offer food to it and then grab it by the neck.
Well I can assure you he will never do that again that goose didn't skip a beat , It's wings went right out and started smacking the dumb azz . He let go and tried to run well that didn't work out for him either . The goose was all over him biting at him and the wings flapping the hole time. As the kids trying to run as his pants dropped to his knees. Laughing my azz off and seeing how hard others were lol made each other laugh even harder.
This was at a public park he had quite an audience.

A video of that would have been priceless. The stupid things people will do.

I had to raise my wall around 4 inches over time, 6ish years. Water level rose. Last 5 ish years stable. Keep on top of plant growth. I yank out plants 2 to 3 times over the summer. Ow the bog directs water out of the pond = blocked out flow into the pond = drained pond.

That is what I thought I read in the bog thread. Luckily I have plenty of liner for the bog because I wanted it to overlap the pond liner for the stream. So I have a good three to four feet of liner extra on each side of the bog. I will just need to build up the walls a little more than what I had, I had a six inch cushion, but seeing the water level now I might as well build it up a little more.
