Yes, you can grow it good inside too, but once it gets outside it really does even better and the strands grow very thick in the full hot summer sun.
I have it in four ponds outside, kept a handful for the inside tank it has gone crazy

I just can't wait for Spring, and of all the things I miss most, was waking up and sitting outside to greet the sun and have a coffee in my bug free zone. I have so very much I want to do to the yard and pond area. I really miss my newly cobblled path and can't wait to finish the cobbled path I started last fall in the front yard.

I really worked extra hard this last summer, for the month of August all I did was get stones at the river and lay them at my feet to create a large natural rock canvas, my crowning glory!

Thanks Addy, I just can't wait to work on the garden again. On the bright side, Dec 21 is the winter solstice, so every day after that the sun will grow stronger again, thank goodness, cause it gets dark so darn early now, sun does not rise till 8:12am and sets at 4:20pm, that is not even eight hours of daylight!
At least the holidays will go fast and by middle of January there should be a noticeable change in daylight, which will make me feel like spring is just around the corner!!

My hands enjoy the break, my job sort of damaged them, some arthritis etc. Sometimes even hurts to much to type. For me winter is a good down time, rest and relax. Sort of catch up on house stuff sort of lol

down time is nice but this weather has buds coming out on all my trees .I wonder if I could grow the stuff in my waterfall .Or would the water going by it cause it to break up

The little waterfall pond area is about 18 inches deep and the water runs under a rock and out into the pond .I figure maybe it might help filter the water up there more if it does not clog up where the water goes over

Sounds like your creative mind is at work Sissy! I would like to create a upper marsh area just for my bull rush, it gets tangled up with the Aquatic Mint, so it needs to be in it's own space were it can run free without a pot. I really love the look of a tall slender rush like at the lake nearby, but the current pot it is in is way too small now, and getting strangled slowly by the pot and the mint. I could build a upper marsh that would have water flowing thru it nicely, and then maybe it would get really thick with lush rushes flowing back and forth in the gentle summer breeze!

I am thinking of a built up area between this corner on the upper pond and the middle pond, out of the way and their is just a hunk of drift would there now. I would cut land scaping ties to fit and pre drill holes and then hammer in big spikes. I would make a spill way for the water to fall into the top pond. The current pumps I am using, one of them would feed this marsh and flow back into the top pond. I would not take me too long to build and then I could free up mores swimming space for the extra large koi in my top pond.

Colleen you have done a fantastic job on your cobbled path. I enjoyed your video too! Cant wait for spring!
I definitely will try growing some hornwort in my pond this summer. As I am just getting started with my new pond. I didn't have any submersibles in there yet. I have room for some babies and need something for them to hide in. :) Besides I like the look of it.

If you have big Koi they will eat all the hornwort very fast unless they have always had it. When you get the hornwort, take a piece and grow it in a big jar of water in the window or something, (so you will have extra incase they eat if all at first) or put the hornwort where the big fish cannot get at it until June or July, when the hornwort starts to grow very very fast. I start my hornwort in the bottom pond where there is just small goldfish and even they they can eat quite a bit very early in the year. But then when the sun is very very hot and the water warmer, then the hornwort all outgrow what the fish can eat! :)

Now after many years I have hornwort in all three connecting ponds, and it stays out all winter under the ice. The fish will munch it down to nothing over the winter, but little half eatten strands will survive as they always do, and then they just start growing all over again! Good Luck with it Haver 79!! Let me know how it goes, cause if you can get it growing good, it does look so nice swirling in the fast moving water like a giant underwater forest!!

I hope mine grows good here w/ our meager sunshine. We had our Friday the 13th yesterday. Got a chip in my windshield from a rock on the freeway. Think I will stay off the freeways. I hate getting those darn chips. Also got home and opened up our pepperoni sticks pkg and lots of mold. Have to take those darn things back now cuz we bought a huge bag that cost us over $34. Think I'll just return it and get the money back and pay for the windshield!

Funny thing about rock chips and windshields jw, We have 5 miles of gravel roads to get to our place and we never get rock chips on the gravel part.
We only get rock chips when we're on the paved roads!
