J w if you feed your fish cat food be aware that they are not nutritionally right for fish and you could in the end be storing up a heap of trouble for your fish, .including bent spines etc

Yes, and I should be dead from all the saturated fat I eat too! Ha ha he he! :) The cat food maybe higher in protein than the fish food, not sure if it matters, just read the ingredients and compare to the fish food. All fish food is not the same, so if you like the ingredients give the dry food a try and see if the fish go "mental" over it. I really don't see how it could hurt, cause fish in the wild are very opportunistic and will eat anything they can, even a rotting carcass that floats down the river. Speaking of river, they never did find that body of that girl last year, they said the fish could have picked her bones clean by now.....

About the mystery droppings, I was having coffee with my friend at her house, and she said these small birds came yesterday to her tree and left orange droppings all over her old car. They were sitting up in the Cottonwood tree overhead, which has old seeds things from last fall. Not sure if the droppings are poop or from left over seeds or something, all she knows is the birds came in a big flock and sat up there and left this big mess!

Last picture, that's one of her big dogs, by the car, eating something on the ground ....

Dave, I looked on the internet and I see not too many people feed there koi dog or cat food, but I am not the only one, and I have heard of many people giving there koi dog biscuits with no I'll effects. My koi just love the puppy chow and prefer it over the real koi food. The koi food around here is so small and my fish their mouths are so big, it's mean to make them chase the little pellets around. Also the koi food is not that fresh compared to the dog food, this dog food that I give is "large breed grain free puppy chow", and yes I give Puppy chow to my 7 year old dogs because they like the puppy chow better too. My puppies hate "adult" dog food and my big koi hate "koi food! Yes, during the summer I indulge the koi's wishes, but that's only part of their diet. The koi also eat bugs, lots of fresh pond greens, and they eat the gooseberrys off the bush that hangs over the pond too.

My koi are just fine and I have been feeding them this food for quite a few years now and they look real good to me and grow very fast during the summer. I have never lost a koi, of course I have only eight koi. The two biggest koi are 22 years old now, and the others are four and five years old.

Are you thinking in terms of the splotches? 'Cause the turts are "hibernating" now. But they eat store-bought box turtle food, mixed with assorted veggies & occasional fruits, lean meats, grubs, earthworms, etc. They LOVE corn on the cob and blueberries. Have to be careful with fruits, though, because the fire ants like it, too.

Sounds like turtles eat everything! I was just curious about what turtle eat and if you just fed them a "strict" turtle diet or fed them an assortment of different food. I have never had turtles but we do have turtles living wild at a local pond in town. In Alberta it is not legal to buy or sell turtles because of salmonella dangers. We do have people who keep turtles in town but they have to have a sign warning not to touch due to salmonella. The Alberta govement just has this rule, but in the province of British Columbia next to us it is legal to buy and sell turtles.

A few years ago my sister saw a turtle crossing the road and she stopped and picked it up and brought it to my pond. The turtle took off and I never saw it again. It probally went to the near by creek which is a couple blocks away.

JW it is a just a very big rock with lots or "licken" growing on it. The rock is made mostly of "shale or sandstone" and we have lots of these big rocks in the "bad lands" that were carried there by a glacier and very long time ago. I would love to have that one sitting out front but that thing won't move and it's just way too big for me to move, otherwise I would have it in my truck by now! We have lots of really cool rocks to find out in the badlands, just a short drive out of town. I have found many nice rocks for the yard out there, and always looking for more for the pond!

It's time to harvest the left over pumpkins that I stored in the greenhouse over the winter. They stored quite well out there and I got fresh roasted pump in seeds to eat today! See my cute hubby cutting up the pumpins! Hubby going to try drying the cut up pumpin. :)
