Hello! Is anyone out there from Canada too, or from Alberta ... Hello?
I have talked to several people from the Medicine Hat area and told them about my thread, wonder if they will find me on this forum?

Spring should be just around the corner now, the sun is getting stronger and this time of the year I get string algae. Not to worry, cause by summer it is all gone, the big powerful sedges will suck the excess nutrients out of the water and starve the algae out. Algae is natural and good for the fish to eat this time of the year. Fish like to hide under it too in the winter. The pond water is still running, as it does every winter. All is good and fish are healthy.

Looking good Colleen! My ponds are still icing over, the big one is open, got the aerator running again. See the fish swimming around when the sun comes out, ow they hide under the piece of floating liner. The pond looks darn empty lol

No ice here but darn rain will stick around here forever. Colleen you are having such a mild winter this year up there in the North country. Your fish and water look fine and bet the fish enjoy the break from your usual cold winters.

Colleen I'm surprised your pond hasn't frozen over up there even with the water running. What kind of temps have you guys been getting? This winter seems colder than the last few for me, was a bit milder on the snow fall too up until a few weeks ago.

Were having a very mild winter, right now temperature is still 39! That's warmer than JW(34f) and Addy(32)right now!
I got the greenhouse door open, so I must go close it before it is really cold. Had to work all day, another day, another dollar!!

My ponds are mostly melted, there was a thin sheet of ice this morning, but that has melted now in the top two ponds. The top two ponds the ice melts quick cause the water level is constantly at the same level, ice melts quicker when flowing on water. The bottom pond the ice melts much slower as the water level is below the ice, because that pond tops the other two top ponds up to a constant level.

Yes right now spring is on it's way for sure, might get a little wet snow tomorrow, but it should not last long and the moisture will be good.

Yes Sissy, it is very nice to have a new guy from Canada, his name is Jim, and I am always very excited to meet fellow Canadians! Looking forward to seeing his beautiful pond come alive this spring!! He also has a very nice bridge like you too! :)

I had to work hard that last couple days and then I had a little spring head cold and could not find much energy, but today I am off and will get stuff down around here!

Well today was the nicest first day of March that I can remember in a long time, reaching a high of 57 degrees! I wonder if we broke any records for today's high, we are mostly likely close to the daily recorded high for today.

Today out by the pond everything was nice, ice is gone, let my greenhouse plants out of the greenhouse for some fresh air and sunshine!

There is a "Bear" in the second picture. Poppy can be see by the middle pond, inspecting the water.
I just love all my succlents!

Notice that in the last picture, (middle pond) the red pond heater is now GONE!!!

Well last night I put the pond heater back in pond and heated it for the night. It was getting quite a bit of ice and I feel better when the fish have good breathing holes in ice. Darn, spring seems to have vanished today and there was a chill in the air. Right now the temperature is only 23 F ( -5 C) and that's todays high!

Yesterday I took the hubby out and about shopping, and to the Butterfly Gardens in town. Hubby just loved to sit and relax in the warm steamy climate, and said when we win the lottery I can have my own indoor pond, bird and butterfly garden!!
