Busy working cleaning out the greenhouse, going to put new plastic up, getting everything ready for winter, got to bring my favorite tropicals and succlent dishes inside for the winter. Frost is already touching some trees, you can see where the leaves are turning yellow more and more every day now. Some mornings are close to freezing, winter is comming....

I don't want winter to come this year Colleen, I'm enjoying this continuous sunshine so much! You got some big mouth hungry looking fishes there :goldfish:

Very warm and dry, nights are getting close to freezing. Been quite busy, have to drive to Calgary, hubby has surgery next week, so I have been stressed and depressed. Hopefully all goes well, or as " well as expected"!
The leaves on the trees here in Calgary are quite a bit more yellow, seems the further north you go, the more the change in color.

I sure hope everything goes well for your hubby. Stress can take a toll on a person, so praying it's all behind you soon, and you can get back to enjoying your pond and the fall colors. Take care..

We were at Calgary Hospital, the North Tower, and hubby was in the middle of an examination and the fire alarm went off, so my hubby had to stand in the parking lot with the funny hospital robes with his cowboy boots on! Got to go back next week on Tuesday, he will see three of the Doctors who will be doing the surgery on the 27 of September, going to be a long day, and I'm very sacred for him. He chewed tobacco for thirty years, he quit five years ago cause the tabacco was buring his gums, now they say he has mouth cancer! I begged him to quit for twenty five years, but he just couldn't. Got lots of good friends who just can't quit tobacco, even though they know what's happening to my Hubby, but everyone thinks it won't happen to them....

Colleen, the boots look like the perfect accessory to the hospital gown to me :) But seriously, I'm praying that this all has a good outcome. I know you are scared, but hey, we are pulling for you both. Keep us posted when you have time..Cyber hugs coming your way...

I have to get some stuff back in the greenhouse soon cause I think the weather is going to change, cause I saw two "sun dogs" in the sky today. Currently it's very dry, very hot during the day, 80 degrees or so, and very cold at night, close to freezing. Were having a warm "spell" right now, but I suspect that the nights are going to be "freezing" in three days!

Cute photo of your hubby at his best! Sure hope tho the doc's can fix him up and he just must quit that tobacco. It's a real killer to a lot of people. Praying he gets well! What are sun dogs?

Got hubby on the "patch" now, and he is still struggling to quit, keeps sneaking the pipe cause he says he is stressed. The patch is helping cause now he barely has his pipe. He will have to go "cold turkey" soon, after the operation, he will have a feeding tube in place for several days and a hole in his neck to breath cause the operation will make his face swell very large. They are going to take a piece of his leg bone to put in his mouth, after they cut out parts of his jaw and gum and possible his lip too. Been having "nightmares" almost every night. He will have to learn to speak again, and then in six months they will do plastic surgery to fix his face, in the mean time he should be back just in time to really scare children for Halloween! In Canada they put horrible pictures on the tobacco cans that show what could happen to you if you use the product, but people still think they will live forever and refuse to quit!

Sun Dogs are a refelection of the sun in the sky, they look just like the sun and it can be hard to tell which sun is real. Here in Canada we seem to get them when the weather is going to change, and they are usually always followed by real cold weather...

Wow colleen I'm so sorry to hear what you and hubby are going through. Sending prayers your way and praying that God gives the surgeons all the knowledge and steady hands for a positive end result. Thinking of you during this trial.

Thank you for all your prayers. As bad as my hubby may have it, there are people out there that have even worse. I am thankful that it is not the "spreading kind", at least that's what we have been told. We are not even sure if he will need radiation. I am also thankful that we are getting one of the best doctors to do the surgery. We have been told that they can fix him up after this cancer is removed so that he will look very normal. So as bad as we sometimes think it is, someone has it worse, and at the Tom Baker Cancer centre I saw small children suffering, who did nothing to deserve cancer, and the thought of the parents suffering, helpless to save the child, it's all just sad.

Collen I did not realize how much your hubby has to go through w/ all this surgery. He has got a long road ahead of him and sure hope and pray the doc's are right about putting him back together again. He just has to quit the smoking for sure and praying that he can do it. Glad he has you there w/ him to help him be strong and fight the urge. He and you will have my prayers
