Can't sleep cause poppy scared for her life!!! Big storms all night, comming from Montana, Poppy shaking like a leaf, hope the pond don't get trashed, big giant winds howling, lighting, thunder, Severe weather bulletin posted on weather network, wind sounds weird. Had to comfort little poor Poppy, Bear don't seem to be effected. Poppy needs me, must go have another "lay down" and snuggle Poppy! Wow that was a real big lighting just now!!! there's always a price to pay the sky gods for a couple nice hot days!!!

At the river last night, you could see storms coming.... stuck my head out window just now, and deck covered in leaves...

The daylilies that are in my bog are just normal yellow daylilies. They are growing really well. I have some buds just starting to shoot up now, so it should be blooming soon I think. I think daylily is one of those plants that are really hard to kill. The ones I have were given to me last year, I didn't have a spot to plant them and ended up leaving them on my patio all winter and sure enough they sprouted up again this spring, and then into the bog they went. I couldn't believe they lived all winter in their pots.

Oh Colleen, we were expecting storms here but for us, they never materialized. For a while though, I also had a scared 60# dog to contend with. All I could do was pet him and tell him it was alright and would soon be over with. Unfortunately, we never got the rain and we so need it. :( But within a bout 30 minutes we were clear and the sun came out. The storms must have veered off someplace, because initially you could hear the rumble and the skies turned really dark. I hope you fared ok as well. :goldfish:

well I do have my lotus planted in my water on the window sill 2 glasses and the leaves are starting to uncurl and be pretty .I just took some pics of them and will post .Water is clear and they get morning sun until noon and seem to be fine .I have now noticed a lot of roots peeking out of the seed pod .I tried what they said about planting them in kitty litter before the leaves came out but even keeping them really wet in a shallow pot with them sitting in a pan of water they started to die so took them out and put them back in the glass of water .Pop they came back in about an hour .I did loose the top of one but stem is fine .

Going to twine the Yellow flag back up, gets this way eventually cause its so darn big. Poppy said she wasn't scared at all, even though she shook like a leaf, all night I might add, she said she had to comfort "mom" all night, ha ha ha!
Thanks Sissy, I got lots of day lillys and when i build a new bog I might try some there!

Going to have a coffee and tidy up the mess now!

I love the storms and we don't get many but when we do it's drama central here! Sorry this one left such a mess for you Colleen. Poppy says you clean it up, I'll just supervise!

Had another storm a couple nights ago, really big winds, look what happened to my big Yellow FLAG, tried to tie it, but I think that made it worse. I'm just going to have to wait for it to fix itself. These things happen, no reason to stress out, poor flag looks like it had a "bad hair day". We have had storms before that were much much worse, I remember one time when the big hail storm flattened everything in sight, was really depressed that year, but after a short while everything re-grew and I almost forgot the whole thing. The yellow flag iris will recover, tree blew down a block away, and some places not far away had much worse. Wouldn't want to live way down south, heard about the bad storms down there!!! Going to have a nap, had to work hard this morning, and to make matters worse, I fell out of bed hard this morning, that has not happened for many years, who every heard of falling out of bed???

Well we had another big booming storm early this morning, when I was a work, Poppy said she was left alone in the dark, at home, with the sky falling!!! Then the storm cleared and I took some pictures of the front yard, got move a whole bunch of rocks from the sidewalk cause the city's going to fix it next week I think. We had too many "near misses" with the floods over the years and the water keeps running over the sidewalk repeatedly over the years from the "flood that keeps trying to get me" each spring.

Well my husband said that the flood would not come this year cause the snow pack in the eastern Rockies was not big.... so I took half the sandbags away and used the nice sand for another project out back, leveled and got new cement slabs to fix the back of the house by the deck. Well now that it rained and rained and rained for fourty days and nights... the New paper claims that the water in the river is rising sharply again cause of all the non stop rain up stream. We see if "it gets me" this year.... one year my lucks going run out..... here's some of today's pictures:) :) :)

Thanks Shoestring! Going to send you rain right away, will do "rain dance" and green everything up real nice there too! I have been collecting the rocks for years for my garden from the farmers field and my friends gave me snips from their gardens and over the years everything just gets bigger! Now I give plant snips to other friends and that's how I try to make this world a prettier place! :) :) :)

Well guess what??? It's raining again! It's been pouring all morning, going to check the river and creek alerts, just in case..... I live only a block or so from the creek, so chances are good that one year the creek or the river will "get me" cause history always repeats itself! now is not the time to be getting 100 mm of rain upstream, and were getting that now upstream. River rose quite a bit over the last two days, not in any danger yet.... but I'm always on "flood watch" this time of year. Here some river pictures from yesterday, see the two wet "large river rats" (Poppy and Bear) and my "honey bunches of love" :) :) :)

Colleen,

Will you please quit hogging all that rain?! Please send some down to the lower 48? Not too much, but enough so that I do not have to "top off" my pond and so that the 2" cracks in the ground close up! Actually, we have rain late tonight and tomorrow in the forecast! I so hope we get it...as it has been predicted before and nothing arrives! Must be those Canadians keeping it all to themselves!

Lovely pictures by the way...even though you stated you are worried about the river levels, the pictures are neat! So cool your puppies get to swim on their walks. I'll bet they are tuckered out once they return home! ;)
