No the primer is a contact cement . You have not watched the videos or read the blog. YOU MUST APPLY THE PRIMER AND WAIT FOR IT TO DRY TO THE TOUCH. NOTHING WILL STICK TO IT WITHIN REASON. WHEN IT IS MET BY THE SEAM TAPE YOU GET ONE SHOT TO GET IT RIGHT IT STICKS ON CONTACT TO PRIMER OR SEAM TAPE. IT WILL NOT STICK TO.PLASTIC UNLESS IT TOO HAD PRIMER ON IT.
Lol, I have indeed watched the videos, and multiple others on seaming. I will go back and watch again, just to be sure i didn't miss anything. Just haven't seen anyone do it in segments like I'm about to, so I'm overly cautious. Like you said, once primed I've got one chance to not screw it up !
I suggest trying it on scrap if you have any. You clean , prime , let dry, roll up the seam tape if not pre primed, and as you roll it out leave the plastic on it once it is lined up the way you like it you pull out the plastic while smoothing it out as you go having anyone hold the roll while you work it

Wow now we have triple postings! Oh @Ian we so need your help!
I was wondering what the heck is going on? I keep getting an error message when trying to respond. I also don't have the option to post a separate message that isn't a "reply".

I've been getting the same error messages this week also. Says oops there is an error and may be browser controls. So you think it did not post but it actually does. Weird.

Great, so now, another liner seaming question. I've seen tutorials many different ways:
When the overlap section folds back down onto the dbl sided tape(which is affixed to the other liner), should I have 1/4" of the tape edge showing, exactly even with tape edge, or slightly over the tape edge?

The guy that's currently helping build my hot tub deck used to install epdm roofs, and he says the tape edge was basically a code thing or whatever, but in pondliner world it really doesn't matter. Especially since the cover tape will go over the whole thing anyway.

Is he correct?

That's one of those questions that's right to some wrong to others I prefer to overlap the seam tape a little so I xan then caulk it , this makes yet another mechanical seam . Then cover tape over the caulking and the overlapped seam. And those edges of that cover tape gets caulked as well. That gives you a seam over a seam while seam the edges. That should take care of any areas that aren't exactly perfect. But will let you sleep at night . Th we last thing I do as well is to place epdm over those seems so plant roots don't work their way through the seams roots are tough and can easily work there way through given the chance.

That sounds like a good idea to add the extra bead of caulk. Thanks.

I've discovered a couple of small liner punctures I'll be patching as well. Couldn't I just use primer and cover tape for those, instead of purchasing the patch kits I see online?

The patch kits are nothing more than one and the same. So yes clean well, scrub on primer apply cover tape that has been cut into a circle oe rounded corners.caulk.

I've been busy with another project and just now getting back to seaming that 15' section of liner. I was still skeptical of using the spray on seam primer, so I called the manufacturer and spoke with a tech. He admitted that the spray on primers are indeed inferior to the brush on one's. So being the "over achiever", I believe I'll eat the 12 dollar shipping, return my spray primer, and find a brush on primer to use.

That said, the Firestone primer is very expensive online, mainly due to the ridiculous amount of shipping charges. I have a local ABC Building supply Co. that sells a brush on epdm primer from "Mule Hide". Had anyone ever heard of that one? How does it compare to the Firestone primer?

Thanks
