Yesterday it was so nice, some people were dressed in short skirts and summer clothes while shopping, of course the first real nice day and I had to work all day! Off work today, hoping we will get close to yesterdays high of plus 14 Celsius! I think that would be like over 57 Fahrenheit.

Hey it's much better than it was awhile ago and above freezing. This is funny but I can't wait to take that new filter out of my pond to clean it. I want to see how easy it will be to clean compared to the last monster I had

you have to clean it with high pressure from garden hose, that is what I do, or in the tub if it is winter, Let the filter get some good bacteria going before you rush to clean it. If it is not too bad I will just hose it off, but after the summer I do take the core apart to get all the dirt out before winter comes. You should not need to clean it for a while.

I will restrain myself and it is not full of gunk on the outsides so I will leave it alone. The pond water is clear and fish are swimming about happily. Yep I had to use high pressure garden hose on my old one too but it had so many pieces of all sized media in it and it took forever to rinse them all. The darn thing was super heavy to pull up outta the pond. This one will be a breeze compared to that old one in the big pot.

Spring is almost over for sure! Ice is all gone of ponds and I have been busy working in yard! Spring will be here in five days and already I can feel it in the air!

I hear it will be a long cold spring for people down east, as the Great Lakes are extremely froze over. from what I have read they are frozen over like 95 percent this year. According to the weather network, that means a long cold spring as the great lakes do govern the weather due to the large volume of water. But because it is abnormally frozen over so hard this year, there will not be heat rising off that huge ice burg any time soon!

I also out the heater back in pond, was not really necessary cause there was there was hardly any ice at all, but I am so sick of winter I will pay to keep the pond ice free for another day, supposed to warm up next week, so I will unplug the heater now as it really is not cold enough right now, I see it is actually warmer than last night, right now my home themometer says about -7 Celsius. I looked at the pond just now and I have the underwater lights plugged in and I can see some goldfish nibbling at the weeds.

Thank you Mitch, I am addicted to garden junk, and if I must have junk, then there is no place better than the garden! What is funny, is that many many years ago when I was a small child, I remember a neighbor lady who had lots of garden junk and a nice garden, but back then I just remember staring at all the stuff, I was not sure what to make of it back then! Now here I am, some days I feel like the "old lady" and now I have all the junk! :)

When my wife and I go on the Calgary Hort Society open garden tours, the gardens that have a ton of things to look at are always the most interesting.
We have purchased a few things here and there, but could always probably use more.
The sun seems to fade out the colours after a few years though.
