If the pumps are under 3000 gallons per hour one filter should do the trick, I use to use just one filter for many years, but then for the bigger 4500 Pond Master, I find two doubled together work much better. You can screw as many as you want together, but two filters doubled together should be more than enough for most pumps.

Also should mention that two filter screwed together will be twice as heavy as one filter, so when I pull it out of pond I let it sit a minute and drain excess water out before I carry to the other side of yard and wash good.

I do not know how you can stand being out there running your camera like that in that super cold freezing weather Colleen. And you either went to bed really late and got up really early or you stayed up all night! And where is that bad Bear today? He is a fair weather trouble make only I'm thinking :biggrinangelA:

That bad Bear and Poppy have been sleeping in the bedroom "den", all resting nice and snug in their beds, and are only seen for very short periods of time outside these days!

I fell asleep last night on the couch till 2 am in the morning, then stayed up and played on the computer and made coffee for hubby as he had to go back to work today, and face extreme windchills out on a job now. good thing I got him good thermal underwear and "Hot Shots" to keep his fingers and toes warm, and other places too, like on his face under his bellaclava (warm thing that covers the face).

The pond sure looks frozen good today, only two really good sized openings on the ponds today, the other are small finger sized holes on the edges of the thin ice along the edges of the top pond today...

can you see this video?

and last night was down to minus 42 C with the wind chill! Actual temps got down to minus 31C last night, but the sun is shinning and need to go hang out with my mom today, were going for coffee somewhere, maybe the mall and then walk around...

I thought I would post it there too cause I am sure there are lots of people who might be interested to see how frozen my ponds are and how I still have little holes open in the ice even though it is so very cold. It is good to see how others winter their ponds and sometimes pictures are just not enough...

Yep and keep them rolling Colleen. I enjoy seeing what is going on w/ the ponds around the world and what others have to deal with.

It seems like every area has some sort of issue that affects the ponds, but freezing I think might be the worse, well except a huge flood.

My nefew is workin in Weyburn Saskatchewan this week outside in the cold with the oilfield too, and they are supposed to see temps near minus 52 C, not sure what that is in Fahrenheit, but it would be like minus 60 Fahrenheit or sometimething, going to have to google that....
