Three hours later most of the bottom pond defrosted quite nicely, except of course the net is still stuck at the far end of the bottom pond. Bad Bear continues to steal rotten pieces of wood from the pond too!

As I type this, the "flash Freezing" is now here, I can see the snow is blowing and the temperture has dropped 10 degrees in the last few minutes.. Must plug the pond heater in tonight, going down to minus 17C or {one degree Fahrenheit} tonight.

You can go back to a restore point on your computer, it might take it back to before the change. Have to really watch those little pop up boxes about changes, I keep saying no to a lot of things that want to take over. I want it the way it is. See if you have a pop up blocker, sometimes that stops some of those pop up changes. I use firefox and have installed some of their add ons that really help

Nice videos ms video queen!

Yes JW, that bad bear will get the sticks, one by one, and I will just find more on the trail in the spring. They seem to like to chew on the old sticks that have the pond water taste, every time I turn my back, Bear goes and takes things to chew. That is why I call him "BAd" Bear! He takes them cause I am a bad "Mom" and don't supervise him and let him get away with everything! Oh well, hubby says Bear see's me move sticks and rocks around the pond and that is why he does it! We love the Bad Bear and he is really not a bad puppy, just likes to chew on the odd stick and stuff.

Here is the box that big filter comes in, and you can get them cheaper "on line". I get two and they screw together for the bigger sized pumps. I really like them and think they are made well and should last at least 10 to 15 years if not more.

They are made by Matala, and called EZ bio 20 Filter

Thanks so much Colleen! They will be a big help to me as that darn bucket is getting harder to lift out and those that you have look so much easier to clean. So you screw two together to make one and then do you have a second set that you do that to also?

You can just use one and if need be, then you can buy another and they can be doubled like mine, by screwing the two together for bigger pumps and better filtration. Get the one and see how you like it and run that for a while, or get two if your pump is really big.

I think I shall get two as my pump is a 2400 gal one and if I get 2 I get free shipping. Have lots of poopy goldfish that make big messes. Found online for $41. each.

Yes, all of mine have double cores inside, inside core is blue and then the inner most is black hard core that fits inside the blue core, that fits inside the big green core. In the spring I take them apart and hose them all off good with high pressure water and it is amazing how much crap comes out of that double filter. That is à very good deal compared to what I paid at pet store, I paid almost 80 Canadian dollars for each filter. Will see what those will cost me in Canadian to get that shipped here.

I am so Glad I could be of help JW! Hook them up to a longer hose and then you just have to reach into the pond and just pull the filters out. In the summer I hardly have to clean them, just early spring I clean them lots as the string algae can be bad in the early spring before the pond sedges get growing good. I really like them and very happy to have them and in all my twenty some years of running ponds, I like these the best for underwater pre-pump filters.

I have the perfect hose for it and it will be so nice to just reach in and take out and hose off and put right back in again. I used to dread cleaning the old one. It will hook up nicely to my Pondmaster 24. Have you ever notice it sucking up any little baby fish into the fiber?

really no worse than a submerged pump in the pond .I always worry about the turtle cage type thing on my pump .The holes are not that big but the draw on the outside is a lot .I would think that would be a lot better but you may have to use a solid hose for the intake .A soft hose may suck in on itself
