Here are some more pond tour pics I took today. I visited 6 different ponds. Everyone I met was very nice and were happy to explain anything you wanted to know about their ponds.

That would be so much fun to take a tour like that! Lots of neat different looks. I like that one w/ the really wide falls in the 5th photo a lot!

I favor the one with the wide falls too. I may have to see if I can do something like this when I put in my new waterfall this fall.

Thanks for sharing the pond tour pictures! I really enjoyed them all. why do we love to look at other ponds so much? I think it's cause there all different, like a piece of fine art, carefully crafted. How long is this pond tour, sounds like it goes on for days? Must be nice to see them all up close and talk with the owners on how they manage their ponds.

Hi Colleen, There are 17 more today, but I don't think I am going again because there are other things I'm supposed to get done says the wife... I liked the last one I went to. They had samples of home brewed beer and food for their guests and even grew their own hops! It's interesting that pretty much everyone's approach is different; from high tech expensive filtration systems to homemade devices. One I saw that was interesting was designed by Novak and has something that ionizes the wastes to clean the water and doesn't use scrubers or bio-balls. You are right it is really interesting listening to everyone discuss how they manage their ponds. It is a great learning experience. Several people suggested that I join the pond club that sponsors it and I think that would be something worthwhile to do. JW/Cajunmeme Re the pond with the large water fall, the next few pics after that are the same pond. We had a terrible storm here last week and part of one of their trees fell into the pond and ripped the liner so a lot of cleanup was needed to get ready for the tour. That pond is interesting because their lot is on a corner and it was designed that you can stand on the sidewalk and see the whole pond and all the fish.

Hey cool Keith if you join up you can share what you learn w/ us here! That pond sounds so nice w/ being able to see it when you walk by and if I lived near it I'd for sure put it on my everyday walking route! Darn now you aren't going today so we don't get to see anymore pix............oh well maybe next time :)

JW, next year we are all going to go up for about a week and camp out at Keith's house! Oops, maybe not at his house, that might be too many folks, but wouldn't it be fun to take a week vacation, meet other ponders, and see tons of ponds in the local area at the same time? Great pics, Keith!
BTW, sorry you had storms, but sounds like you also netted some rain, which I bet you were glad about. I was in NW Illinois this past weekend, and what she thought was "dry", is nothing like what the conditions are around where I live. This is my front yard. Back, side yards look identical. Brown, dead.

I realized how much worse it REALLY is where I live when I traveled north and west. Wow, it's really dry everywhere, but worse in my immediate area, or so it sure seems. All yards are as brown and dead as mine. I'm not sure that the grass will rejuvenate yet this year, even if we get a lot of rain. It's at total dormant status, I think, so may take a month to come back to life, and then it may start getting cool. Haha, cool would be welcome, too. :)

Wow well that would be fun but sure would be a long way for us to travel from here. Don't know if I could stand the heat back there at this time of the year. Maybe they could change the time to April for us north westerners, lol!

That is some scorched straw out there in your front yard CE. You need some big time rains to correct that problem. Guess it will come back in the fall when the rains come. Ours is usually drying up some by now too as we have really sandy soil but not this year. It's still dark green and lush from all our rains and cooler weather. Lately tho we have had some sun but not enough hot days to brown it all up.

Hey CE, that's funny. Actually our youngest is going off to college this fall and her big sisters are long gone so we do have the room for quite a few people. That would be really fun. Now I need to get my wife on board. She does realize I have friends that are pond fanatics like me when she sees me taking pictures of the pond from a ladder or opening up fed ex boxes with tadpoles or plants in them! JW We had to turn on the ac again today because it was 90's and humid. We had it off for a few days and it was nice to open up the patio doors and windows after 3 straight weeks of super hot weather. We like to hear the waterfall from the pond inside the house, and when the windows and doors are shut you can't hear anything.

CE I'm really sorry to hear how dry it is down there, must be terrible! Hope that the weather patterns changes and you get more rain soon! Nice to hear you got "free beer" on the tours Keith! I'm pretty sure that would be a real treat, home grown and brewed! It is interesting to hear how people manage their ponds, everyone has there own way, discovered what works for them. I know other pond people who do things different than each other, everybody finds there "own way" and that's perfectly OK, if the end results in a nice pond, that's really all that matters. :)

Yesterday was the first sunny day in more than 2 weeks here in south Louisiana. My fishing were nearly drowning with so much rain. Our lawn in very green and lush, but so are the weeds that I can't get to just yet.

Keith, I think my AC has been on and no windows open for longer than I like to remember. I love having the windows open at night, just to get the fresh air in. I heard maybe down to 63 tomorrow night, but I will be gone. I've seen brown, but never what we have in this area this year before. I'm beginning to think the grass will not green up this year anymore, it's gone totally dormant. But, I'm sure a good week of soaking rain may rejuvenate it again! I actually love to mow the grass when it's nice and green and lush ...

That pond tour looks like so much fun. I went a few years ago in Baton Rouge and there were like 7-8 ponds. I need to check and see if they still have them. That's over a half hour drive away so i doubt they would drive out this far to view mind.
