I love how the water flows between the two slabs of limestone :)

Thanks Tula. I had done something similar at my old pond But never started the base in the water which I think looks much better here. Basically it’s just smashing down the flexible pipe with the top limestone over the lower limestone so the water spreads out how you want it. I put a couple small rocks between the two to balance it out so it stays flat. The top limestone is two pieces. The back piece doesn’t do anything except cover the pipes and makes it look like one large limestone cap on the waterfall. This part was really quick. It maybe took 30 minutes of less. The harder part was lifting and setting the granite cobblestones. They are two layers high sitting on the plant shelf. I wanted to make sure it was really solid before I covered it with the limestone.

ditto what Tula said!

Of course, you know this is only waterfall v1, right? I wonder how many versions until you finally settle in. Took me 7 years, 7 tries to really get what I wanted to see. Then 2 years later, I dismantled it all and rebuilt it into 2 (now 3) waterfalls! I do like the low profile and way the water exits, though. Really nice touch. Problem is, once you get into waterfalls, DON'T go looking closer at others' waterfalls and videos of waterfalls as that'll surely give you even MORE ideas! Seriously, it can be addicting--just ask GB!

Thanks! Haha. No this is V. Final If I want to stay married! My wife gave it her blessing that she liked it and already has moved on to my next projects like resurfacing our deck and building a privacy wall as part of our railing. If I start another version I might as well collect all the fish at the same time to move to where I’ll be living … alone!

Yes I’m not buying anymore fish if that’s what you mean! I got an interesting pic of two dragonflies today. Can you see them?

That is funny. I have a Doitsu Gin Matsuba Koi that will literally jump out of the pond to try to get a morsal of food in the plants on the pond edge. Once it’s fully out of the pond he flaps around until he gets back in!

So I made an improvement to my pond that I had been thinking about for sometime. I installed a stronger pump for the bog and I think it helped the water clarity. The old one was 1800 GPH and the new one is 4200 GPH. The hose connecting the pump to the underground pvc is probably close to 15-18 ft so I am probably losing 15-20 percent for the head but I noticed the flow is much stronger when I feel the pipe that water is going through. Right away I noticed water clarity improved and it may seem crazy but it looks like the bog plants are growing even more than before! The bog is the same depth as the pond so about 42 inches so I feel the stronger pump was really needed. I cut out around 100 water willows today because they were taking over the bog. Here are a few pic I took this evening. The bog is on the far left. There is a wall between the bog and the pond but the plants are covering it. All the pics were taken from the 2nd level of my back porch so from about 20 plus feet from the pond.

Looks good, Keith. I have a strange (maybe!!) question; are you allowed to take pics from pond-side? I don't think I've seen one yet from that pov! Jus' sayin'!

I think since you cut down the yellow flag, the whole pond looks more balanced. I sort of had a similar experience in that when I first built my pond I too put in some yellow flag in a pot. It grew (of course) and started to overflow the pot. Now, I didn't realize how tall they could get and I'd originally put the iris fairly near the front of the pond. It too looked out of place in that the height just didn't jell with the other plants and landscaping. It dominated too much. Moving it back out of the way and thinning went a long way to making my pond look nicer, just like yours.

And you thought you were 'done' tweaking the pond, didn'tcha? Told you there was more for you to find to do! I'm glad this hobby has such teases as it might get boring day after day just sitting by the side and throwing fish food out every now and then!
