Watch and learn Keith, you will be doing it next! ;);););););););):LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL:
Addy I do have a number of baby goldfish this year. A lot of them are pretty colors. They are hard to see but I don’t think any are Koi. I know you thought I was crazy for going from goldfish to Koi but I really couldn’t really see any fish in my pond from our porch until I added the Koi. It’s so much nicer now!

Nah not crazy you like what you like and I can see why ie visual, but you will need to purge at some time . Try not feeding during the summer let them inhale the eggs. That is my control, I watch them going crazy eating the eggs that get laid, a real attack!

Tula, Did you ever try to eliminate their hiding places so you have fewer baby fish?
It would be nearly impossible the way my pond was built. It has little "coves" , which I love and add interest to the pond. I also think my protecting the water lilies with deer fencing allows fry safe zones to develop.

It'll be interesting to see what the count is this year, I'm hoping it's less since I was able to lift the net pond bag which ChaCha spawned on....it looks like less babies to me....but who knows they swim about so fast !

Hmmm... Good luck! I have a bunch of babies but they look like all goldfish.

I did some cleanup in the yard over the weekend. These are some end of the season pics of the pond and fish. The new Koi are growing nicely and the goldfish are well too.

Your koi are really growing ! You have a beautiful collection :)
Thanks Tula... Im trying! The two jumbo Tosais I bought got really large fast! So far I have been able to avoid the bug to buy anymore fish, but I keep looking :) I like the ones I have and it will be fun to watch them grow. I have a lot of interesting looking shubunkin baby goldfish this year too and I think some of them will be nice when they grow. So far no plans to give any away!

And they look like they are large enough to spawn in the spring! Join the koi roundup group!
Hmmm... so I have had a pond since 2008 or 2009 but never had to do a round up other than when I moved my pond from my old house to where I live now. But... I never had Koi before so maybe that will be an issue!

Hi Keith, I agree with the above posts, your koi look awesome!
Thanks Gemma. Great to see you back in action on the forum! I liked it when we talked about Koi before. It seems like most the fish talk on GPF is about sickness and disease and not so much about the fish themselves. I have read a lot about Koi over the last year and also visited Japan and got some first hand knowledge about their appreciation of them.
