I think more filtration is a good thing :) I've got pea soup right now, hoping bog plants grow and take care of it. I put up the net yesterday after seeing the biggest GBH I've ever seen by the pond :(

Your koi are getting big! And you have the koi bug!
Hi Addy. Yes I do.. and soon I'll have a filtration bug... broke down and bought a Showa. Great colors and 12-14 inches for $250. I couldn't resist... Some dealers need to move inventory now so might as well buy. I wish I had room for more. There were several more I really wanted! If anyone wants to know where i'm buying from send me a message.
Just remember, spring is in the air and spawning will begin soon!
Yes. but it seems like only my goldfish are spawning. I probably have a half dozen babies in the pond from last year. Most of them don't make it. Too many hungry mouths and not enough places to hide...

@CometKeith You will have to change your forum name to Koi Addict Keith :joyful:
I know! The nice man called today to confirm my shipping address and I just had to add one more! So I'm getting the Showa labeled #C in the picture below and it is 12-14 inch. I love the combination of red/orange and black and white on this fish. I just have one other Showa and always wanted another one. The really nice thing about Showas is the black on the fish is very stable because it's actually a black bodied fish with colors over it. You can get a Showa with a lot of black but it will never dominate and get larger as the fish gets older. Sankes are just the opposite! Also I got number A on the bottom pic. It's a 12-14 inch Shiro Utsuri Jumbo Tosai. So Tosai means It's a juvenile ie less than 2 years old and jumbo means it's exceptionally large for it's age and is expected to grow larger than other comparable fish! I hope this fish doesn't get too large for my pond! I love the way the black kris crosses the white background. This will be my first Shiro Utsuri. They are both from Niigata which is a very reputable breeder in Japan. They are both coming Thursday!

do you need a intervention? :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
Hi Addy. Probably. But honestly I'm getting these fish for less than half of what they would normally go for. I'm guessing sales are down quite a bit right now. So I'm helping the economy and getting a great deal! Just couldn't pass them up!
Serious help is needed for "koi addict keith" and I remember the days of yore when his wife was not really into all of this and put a hold on a lot of Keith's idea's. She must be the enabler now
Hahahaha... she doesn't know yet! I don't add up the cost of her shoes and what I pay for fish is none of her business!
Gorgeous fish @CometKeith ! You're all in now!
Yes Lisa. I'm already seriously thinking of really upgrading my pump and filter and they are not even a year old right now. I got my refund today for the tennis sessions that got cancelled because of Covid-19 so that basically paid for the fish!
Usually I arrange for fish to arrive when my wife isn't home. Now that's almost impossible with everyone staying at home... I'll see how it goes tomorrow! She usually figures out I get new fish sooner or later but I don't like to throw that in her face.

Sorry. Addy.... Neither of us have Facebook so that won't work. I know you have my full contact info from the honey orders so you could really do that if you wanted!
I got the two Koi yesterday. Both are beautiful. The black and white (Shiro Utsuri) Koi basically hid all day. I don't think he/she liked coming from sunny California to 41 degree Chicago weather! I did let the water temp acclimate in the bag to the pond water. I was surprised how much warmer the bag water was over my pond temp. Re size since they are 12-14 inches. I didn't know how they would compare to my existing Koi because never knew if you include the tail (yes you do) and haven't really ever measured any of them. The Showa is just slightly larger than my largest group of Koi, but not by much and the Shiru Utsuri Jumbo Tosai is smaller than almost all my Koi except the two smallest ones so that was surprising. I guess my Koi are bigger than what I thought. I'll post a few pics of them next... so my wife figured out I was waiting for a fish because I worked from home in the morning. I told her it was one fish to replace the one that died. She told me she saw it hiding away from the others all day but I don't know which one she was talking about!!! The Showa or Shiro Utsuri?? Anyway I'm not going to ask her which color because that will give away I got more than one! Ooops had to lie about the cost too... Hope she isn't reading this now!

At least your fish aren't camera shy like mine sometimes are lol but then again I only have two goldfish (saved from the bait shop nearby) and thinking of adding a few more (and or saving a few more of their friends). Sweet pond!
I like saving the feeder fish for my pond. Makes me feel good they won’t be lunch.
