JW it's in a park the school owns. It is adjacent to the Japan House which is operated by one of the departments there so hence the koi.
I don't know what the cat was up to. I have never seen that cat before but suspect it is definitely someones pet because it wouldn't run away and wasn't scared of me at all. The cat was having a great time watching the fish, but I didn't know it's intention and hopefully it wasn't trying to figure out how to catch one for dinner! It seems like the bigger fish were hiding and not taking any chances...

My cat loves to try to catch the frogs around my pond, but so far she has only brought a small tree frog into the house. Pretty sure she would just play with them anyhow. Never have seen her try to even think about catching a fish ... she loves to watch them, but never wants to get her feet wet. LOL

Hey CE, Since I read your post I have only seen two of my three frogs. I was sure that cat got one.
Well I saw all three frogs tonight! :boldblue:
Dinner time by the pond. I hate these cool fall days. It only hit 84 degrees today and is in the low 70's tonight! Pond plants still think it is summer.

Your pond still looks great Keith!! My pond is now covered with large nets, leaves are falling like crazy and the nights are down to freezing here now. Summer is over for us here, just hoping we don't get snow before Halloween!

Enjoy your nice weather by your pond Keith. We are done also w/ Summer and instant cool down. My cats both have never even tried to get a fish. They just like to get a sip of water now and then and don't even watch the fish anymore. Never seen them catch a frog either but then I don't have lots of those for them to get. Sure like looking at all your long flowing tailed fish!

My house cat, Grace, loves to walk along the edge of the pond, I think to make the frogs jump in. I doubt she is smart enough to hunt them down or quick enough to catch them before they get into the water. Now, if she spotted one in the yard, she might have a chance, but not the bullfrogs that are always on the edge of the ponds. She has fun chasing them all in, though, and there are lots of them for her to chase.
Yes, Keith, it has been extraordinarily warm for October. Today it was up near 80, and tonight only getting down to mid-60s. It's been awful muggy and humid, going to have fan on high tonight, or will need to turn the AC back on for a bit to get the humidity out of the air. I want to leave the windows open to hear if it rains, though. Love to sleep while it's raining ... guess that was said wrong, since I like to WAKE UP to hear it raining! LOL Love the smell in the air when it begins to rain, too.
Just looked at weather.com, and heck, the rain is coming from the south, tracking N/NE, and I sure don't see me getting any rain tonight, and probably not even tomorrow! It's already to the east of me. Darn!!! And now they are showing 87 for the next couple of days, then 77 for high on Sat and another chance of rain. Soooo strange weather for this time of year.

Hey, Keith, the last puppy is going to be heading up your way to his new owners on the 21st! They are buying a condo or something like that on the "western loop" as he called it. Can't remember the city he will live in. Anyhow, thought I'd throw that out there. LOL Was going to come up to WI this weekend, but hate to make the puppy ride for almost 6 hours each way ... plus I don't want to make the drive myself either. :blueflower:

I have lilies blooming still, too, but not nearly as vigorously as a month ago. Things are definitely trying to shut down, but with the pond temps in the high 60's, no wonder the plants think they should be blooming yet!
Wish I could send the warmth north to my Canadian friend, Colleen, and I wish others could send their rain to me ... and then we would all be happy ponders all the time! :blueflower:

I think our lilies are very confused LOL ... They did great this spring once they got going, but when we moved them to the baby/lily pond this summer, we unpotted them all and weighted them down. Still bloomed, but not happy (may have something to do with the baby koi ate all the fine roots LOL) .. Hubby got into the pond yesterday to prune them, and to repot them before it gets too cold to want to get into the water ... They are all pushing TONS of leaves at the tuber... They went into the new pond as 17 pots ... Now we are out of pots, and they are crowded into 29, 3-5 gallon pots ... About 3/4 of them will need to be divided/repotted first thing in the spring:-(

Colleen , Thanks, we have had a great fall so far. I'm not ready for winter! CE, I'm sure its been warmer by you but I think it hit 80 again here today. I will definitely take it. My water lettuces have never been as big as they are now. I wish I could keep them for next year. It's interesting my wh started out great in the late spring/early summer and stopped growing and spreading about a month ago. The wl were just the opposite. It took them a really long time to start growing and spreading and now they are going strong. CE, The west loop is a very hot area. There are a lot of old factory buildings converted to lofts and a lot of new condo buildings there too. Glad your puppy found a good home. We are around if you decide to drive north and want to stop on the way. Just send me a message. Oh I was a good Samaritan today. I found a really cute dog running around in a neighborhood I was in today and got it to come to me and caught it. I found a tag and called the owner or I think it turned out to be a friend of the owner. I think the dog was a combination of a poodle and cocker spaniel...cockapoo? A lady saw me holding the dog by the collar in front of where she lived and came out with a leash and helped me return it. Capewind/Addy that sounds great about your lilies. Do you have any pictures of them?

Haha, Cape, now you know about multiplying pond plants! Wait til next summer, you will be giving away all sorts of plants. :blueflower:
YOU are to blame for half of them LOL ... I have to say that GA Peach is my favorite. I couldnt believe how much that one changed color. Not only did each bloom darken during it's bloom time, but the later into the season they went, they were nearly a coral color,,, Hubby STILL wants more colors!
