Definitely am tired of the fear mongering the media causes by sensationalizing anything that happens anymore. Whipping the general public into a panic over everything anymore. Now that the covid pandemic has been out for awhile let’s move onto “murder” hornets.

Really?! It’s an animal doing what it does, which unfortunately is killing honey bees and taking over their nests. Don’t want to see them get a foothold in the country and start wiping out honey bees but it’s not like they are a big direct threat to humans.

In Md they are starting to lift restrictions now, allowing boating, and other recreational activities...Fortunately in my business I have been able to keep working through this, but feel bad for people with businesses deemed nonessential that have had to close down or rely on online sales has to be tough. Agree, with Lisa those businesses are certainly essential to the owners. employees and their families.

The DR's in the deleted video were saying that just like the previous administration that when there was a problem found they were paid to bury it . This was done with poor scores in testing in certain area schools to make it look like things were improving yet it was only that no one was speaking about it. Now we have Dr's being told how to report there medical expertise and if a person was hit by a car and died if they later found out they had covid they were told they had to make cause of death as a covid. And you guessed it someone somewhere is putting money where there mouth is and these people were also getting paid t report as the "higher ups said to do" I so want to start a web site called ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. F google and there search engine a name like that would get around quick expecialy if you brought to the forefront of the videos just deleted by youtube. if i ever won the lottery for a billion dollars i would become such a thorn on google twitter and facebook. i should also add cnn to that list the sensationalism and the half truths are a HUGE part of the rip in this country

We wore masks and from what I saw the majority of customers and employees wore masks. Those who didn't wear a mask, I assumed had a good reason and we saw no confrontations . Being it was senior hour, there were no children under the age of two present....I believe they don't have to wear a mask either.

I noticed may of the items previously in low stock, were back on the shelves....including TP :)

My daughter who works for a non profit that serves adults and children with disabilities, was called back to work this week. They are working diligently to reopen their respite programs while meeting all criteria for social distancing. Many of the participants are exempt from wearing masks, as they have sensory issues.

GOOD god if a hear anything more about masks or face coverings i am going to loose it. A virus is so small that anything short of True respirator is a joke and a major misleading practice AND I QUOTE
gettyimages-1202986011

Surgical face masks don't block small particles, but they can prevent liquid from getting on your mouth or in your nose.
n95-respirator.png

This NIOSH-approved N95 respirator will prevent airborne particles from entering.
Studies have shown that N95 masks are highly effective in preventing viral illnesses, but only in people who actually wear the masks correctly, which is RARE.
N95 masks are difficult to put on for people who aren't medical professionals. If you've put the mask on right, it gets hot and stuffy, so a lot of people take it off before it can do any good. In fact, some medical professionals believe these masks actually create a more suitable environment for viruses to develop.

Guys are you clean shaven ? no then it matters not what you wear you would never pass a fit test to effectively wear a mask of any kind. Germaphobes are in there glory

What do these people think is going to be left of this country if 14 percent of the country GO ON WELFARE / unemployment insurance the standard 13 week is now being pushed by these politicians to 26 weeks at which point when it expires then they will start the 13 week standard that is 39 WEEKS 39 WEEKS PEOPLE IF HALF OF THE 30 MILLION SIT ON THERE A _ _ for 39 weeks welcome to American who is the next Venezuela.......

They want contact tracing to be normalized. Just like the cameras everywhere spying on us. Look at the drones some of the police are using (which are made in China). And forget about the hippocratic oath, they would love to abolish that.
Does anyone realize how bad CHINA IS IN OUR LIVES.... usb sticks are all MADE IN CHINA .. you buy a 64 gig stick and when you open it on your pc is says there is only 59 gigs available ....wonder why ? well the united states government found out the hard way ITS A BACKDOOR PROGRAM alows the creator a way onto the p the stick wa s inserted in to .The government will no longer allow any usb sticks that are made by China.

The problem is we have all become weak and the U.S is overcrowded and we eat all the wrong things .People who think this is fake should look at the hospitals and nursing homes where people are not making it .I have lots of family in the health care business and this is no joke and worse than the flu .People think nothing about what they eat but will go to the gym and workout and take drugs .I grew up on a farm and have always ate healthy and canned lots of my own food .I am not a survivalist just old fashioned .I do not eat much processed food ( can't avoid some when you eat at family's houses )that flavor is added and do not eat out at all .There are so many who think nothing of eating out or buying that cup of coffee .We are weak because we choose to be weak .Younger peope and older people think drugs are the in thing ,they are using drugs as a crutch and excuse for laziness .Like my mo and dad always instilled in me you get out of life what you put into it .We all need to put on our big girl and big boy underwear and grow up .This is no joke it is the same as the drug war and we are loosing that at a fast pace because we chose to ignore it ,thinking if it does not effect us it does not exist .I hear my friends and family cry because they work in hospitals or nursing homes ,they are burned out and even say they are mad at people for thinking this is nothing .But they cannot say that as that would be wrong .I have 8 nieces and nephews and 2 sister that work in hospitals and several friends that also work in nursing homes .wake up people and smell the coffee

I don't think the virus is fake. But I do think we had other options to deal with it. Shut down in NYC makes sense; complete shut down in Nowhere, USA makes no sense AT ALL. You can't treat the entire country like we're all the same and expect people to accept it. If you take out New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts, we don't have a problem in this country.

And I agree with you about health @sissy - when they say "this person died with NO UNDERLYING HEALTH ISSUES" in the back of my head I'm thinking "yeah. But what was their diet like? Did they smoke? Drink? Had their bad habits just not caught up to them yet?" Most lifestyle related diseases show up after the age of 60. So if a 58 year old dies with "no underlying health conditions" that could just mean nothing that's been diagnosed yet. Give them ten more years and they MIGHT have developed heart disease or diabetes or whatever.

Tend to disagree just a bit, we just grew, in this state, by another 1049 cases and confirmed covid deaths of 60 in the last 24 hours.
31534 confirmed cases.
Yeah we have around 6 million people in MD, yeah that is a smallish number unless you are one of the dead, one of the sick, a relative of a dead person. And like us very vulnerable.

That's not just smallish - that's miniscule. One half of one percent confirmed infected. And the stats say that 98% of those infected will recover without any issues. But you have something like 20% of your workforce on unemployment as a result of the shutdown. That has to mean something. We can't keep printing money to keep people on unemployment. I understand no one wants anyone to get sick or to die - but policy decisions can't be made by starting with "well, first we have to make sure no one will die". If that were the case, we would start by reducing the speed limit to 5 miles per hour. Stop air travel. Don't let people out on the water in a boat. The list would go on and on. I mean, Bloomberg tried it with limiting the size of a soda you could buy in New York City - and once that floodgate opens, get ready for government in every aspect of your personal life.

I understand that there is a portion of the population that needs to stay vigilant, which is entirely possible to do without requiring the whole country to do the same thing. Just because things open up doesn't mean people have to GO. But if this continues, there won't be business left TO open up.

They announced this week that 48% of the deaths in IL were nursing home patients - sounds to me like we need to outlaw nursing homes.

@GBBUDD , I realize wearing masks is controversial....we wore masks because we wanted to shop at Costco and they REQUIRE one.

@sissy , totally agree on the issue of diet....add to that exercise ! it's absolutely incredible to me how so many don't understand the effect of diet and exercise on their health!!!

I just finished watching the funeral of my beloved Uncle via You Tube live streaming.....such a great man.....IMO deserved a gathering of his loved ones sharing memories.....but not to be :(

On a weather related note....I was shocked to see some of our hostas bit the dust in last night's freeze !

I'm glad that we can keep this thread a civil sharing of ideas. So many of my friends - and even family - get very heated on the subject and won't even entertain conversation about it. It's all "that's the science and I'm not discussing it". Since when is science not open for discussion? I mean even the "science" on the virus keeps evolving. That's why we have clinical trials and experiments - because science hasn't been "decided" and that's it. But when you shut down debate, we all lose.

I think the mask conversation is a good example - we all heard WEEKS of the CDC saying masks were NOT a good idea for anyone outside of the medical profession. "DON'T WEAR MASKS PEOPLE!" OK. So we all listen and accept that. And we all tsk tsk-ed people who wore them anyway. Then suddenly everyone is supposed to switch gears and say "ohhhhhh NOW we have to wear a mask! Now masks are GOOD! Got it!" and never question why the change. The virus hasn't changed. We were told masks were essential in IL but we were given ten days to start wearing them... uh. OK? Why not RIGHT AWAY if it's so essential?

Businesses that are requiring masks have one thought in mind - protecting themselves from potential lawsuits down the line. Fear of litigation drives too much of our public decision making these days. If the government would absolve them from any potential liability they would all drop the requirement like a hot potato.
