I am 66 and no health concerns and still being very careful since hubby has health issues .Here it seems like people are really watching closely .I have seen more people than ever before outside working in their yards .Pretty soon all the ugly yards will be pretty but when this ends they will probably go back to ugly ,sad to say .Neighbors that had trash in their yads have no clean them up and pulled weeds in their gardens and mulched and planted flowers .The garden center down the road has done better business than ever before .They set up everything outside the garden center with more space and you can pay outside and every thing is onsale .Small garden center but they are doing what they can to brighten peoples days .Non essential but for the spirits it is worth it .

@CometKeith my husband is 60 years old and has a chronic illness that puts him square on that list as well, so we are being extremely careful ourselves. But we are ALWAYS extremely careful during flu season, because that can be just as deadly for someone like him. Lots of hand washing, avoiding crowds, doing what we can to boost immunity. We live differently because of him, but we don't expect the whole world to do the same. This is the first time in history that we have asked healthy people to quarantine themselves... time will tell if it was the right approach.

And I do appreciate that social distancing appears to be working as they had hoped - the good news. I get the whole "flatten the curve" concept and not overloading the medical system. But I could argue that even that could be limited to areas with high population density. Nowhere, Nebraska being shut down makes zero sense. And explain California... there are so many things that we need lots more data on before we know where we go from here. What's the exit strategy for example? How do we get people back to work without enraging that part of the population that will now FOREVER believe the only path to survival is everyone staying in their house? Rahm Emmanuel's brother was on the news saying we need to continue this for AT LEAST 18 months. I can guarantee you THAT won't fly.

Where you and I differ is that I won't willingly sacrifice my rights... not even to save my own life. That's not a slope I'm willing to slide down. Where does it end? Now you can't buy liquor in the city after 9PM. Next you won't be able to buy it at all. Once we've demonstrated our willingness to accept the "parent state", there is no line some people won't cross. Without our freedoms we aren't even America anymore... which would make some people very happy. I know we are keeping politics out of this thread, but there is lots of evidence that the politicians aren't keeping politics out of the corona virus.

Congratulations on your newest grandchild! Ours was born on March 20 - number six for us!

I have had a difficult time up to now just with the banks insisting that I call them when I leave my area . I have had them shut down my Debit card more than once and left me stranded for 2 hours untill the computer reset its self. I'm sorry I have worked very hard for my money and I will be DAMNED if I am going to call Dad "my bank" every time I cross state lines. They are worried about hackers etc well put our damn picture on the cards do not scan it record it at the stores. But the store can check for them selves. use a finger print or a revolving coded signature on our phones theres ways to make it very hard for hackers.

We have a senior complex across the street and a handful of our clients live there with their pets. Two weeks ago, two of them called me concerned about workers bringing their snotty nosed kids to work with them. They don't have day care anymore and that really put the seniors at risk. I told them to complain to management (who brought their kids) and they were ignored. . What a dangerous thing to do to a fragile segment of our society. Sure enough, one of them tested positive last week.

We are now considered a hot spot, our county and others in our state.
Today howling winds, wish they would blow away the virus. So far 48 mph as a high gust.

Been very thankful for my yard and pond over this period as i'm sure many other people are.
The limitations on getting supplies have led me to be more resourceful. I dug out a few weeds from a pool of water on a flood plane near my house to plant in the margin of my pond and tomorrow i am going to take a stroll along a remote part of my local river to look for some driftwood

Our region had strong storms last night and an area very close tour either had a tornado or straight line winds, with lots of damage. Today, sun shining, bright blue skies and very gusty !

Hubby went to Lowes for painters tape and a few other things he needed. He wore a mask and used hand sanitizer and wipes for his cart. The store was fairly quiet, nothing was cordoned off. They do limit the amount of people in the store at one time, but as I said, it was fairly quiet so wasn't a problem.

My 84 year old mother wants someone to take her to the drug store so she can buy some hair products and lipstick o_O

Yes! She did order a few things online last night. Frankly I think she just wants to get out of the house a bit. I think I'll suggest a drive to her tomorrow. OH states a 14 QT for people entering the state and she only arrived on Tuesday. It's hard to say no to your Mom :(

Can understand that. If my dad was still around he would have the entire house wrapped in plastic, negative air flow, and be in a total panic for the family.

in your travels keep your eyes open for moss . The wood for some still life a little death to bring the pond to life " crazy how that works" And moss really helps to naturalize the pond makes it look like it was always there.

If anyone is trying to get gloves, masks, etc from Amazon I have had good luck getting short shipping times by going to last several pages. 1st pages are either out of stock, crazy prices or shipping delays. Got gloves delivered in 3 days, no shipping charges.
