Finished placing the rocks around the new dug ledge yesterday, so now I have to haul the extra rocks off today. We are also hauling in boulders from our property to put against the bank by the pond, even tho we have a skidder it is really hard to place them the way I want them :(. Then we'll haul in dirt to put behind the rocks and I'll plant things that maybe the deer won't eat. Will post some pictures later today. Hubby hauled an awesome rock up to the house yesterday. It is huge he couldn't pick it up, there is no way he can get it over to the bank with out tearing up the yard.. Thinking its going to stay where he put it.

I moved rocks to big to pick up by rolling them. Some of my boulders are huge, I would get them moving and start doing the roll. Some of them I moved by walking them, move one edge a tiny bit then the other and "walk" them to the spot they are to stay at.

I wish I had huge boulders around here. There is a house a few miles from here that has a rock as big as the house next to it. I'll have to take a picture of it next time I remember. I would love to have that in my yard!

The first picture is of the rocks that we are starting to build on the bank. Then this is the rock that we can't rock and roll across the yard! Then the finish of our carport :).

My rule for myself was no rocks that I could not move by myself. The only large one that I could not lift is the one I used as a walk bridge across my small stream. I knew I could lift one side (tested it at the garden store before I bought it), so knew I could use leverage to get it into place, like Addy talked about. I got it down into wheelbarrow (sooo glad I got the wheelbarrow with 2 front tires, when it comes to heavy stuff like that flat large rock), then tilted wheelbarrow to slide it out onto 2x4's and slid it across, removed the boards and voila! Where there is a will, there is a way ... unless your rock is huge like yours, MT! That one is going to need heavy duty tractor! Good luck!
Did you see the lunar eclipse and red moon? I saw the eclipse, but never noticed the moon to be red. Guess if you looked through binoculars, the red color showed up better. I was happy to see the eclipse.

One of the guys I work with said he woke up at 4:30 and he saw the eclipes and he did say it was red. I thought is was going to be later then that and when I got up I had missed it  .
When hubby tried to pick that rock up with his skidder he said the tires looked like they were flat . It is really a neat rock, it has moss growing on it and I'd really like to get it moved, it would look awesome against that bank.

Maybe you can find someone that would move it for a few bucks.

You can move it like the Flintstones did..............just get several sticks of pipe and three sheets of ply-wood. Lay two sheets of ply-wood down end to end. Place the sticks of pipe on the first sheet. Lay the third sheet of wood on top of the pipe. Role the boulder on to the top and let it slide over to the second sheet of ply-wood. Move the pipe and ply-wood in the line and direction that you want. It may take some time but it should be easy to move and won't hurt your lawn.

Sitting outside with my pug Nina and enjoying the last of our summer. Really a nice nite! Fish are still swimming around and are happy. Dreading the winter months with no interaction with my fish. :(
