You're doing it wrong.
Anyone know a good 'cleanse' ? Too many pain killers from recent surgery have left me feeling sluggish.
Thanks. I agree with the diet plan 100%. The weeks following surgery I began having real fruit/vegetable juice for breakfast and then waiting till 1-2pm before having a small healthy lunch. NO processed foods other than cheese! Managing your type and amount of caloric intake is SO much easier when not working. Now I'm back to work, I'm finding the need for more calories much sooner than just last week. I also find the need for Ibuprofen to make it thru the afternoon, I hope to quit that a soon. I must say I felt better eating minimally. My work puts me at max output for 90% of the day I can't deny my energy needs, but I can choose what I use for it. I still do juice for breakfast, fruits for breaks and the best sandwich I can make for lunch. I'm hoping once I stop the ibuprofen all will be better.I'll share my opinion about the "cleanse" craze. Your body is constantly cleansing - that's what it's designed to do. If you eat a diet that is filled with chemicals and additives and and fake ingredients and too much salt/sugar (aka the Standard American Diet) your body is going to have to work harder and will struggle to keep up. Same is true of medications - your body works to clear those, but will struggle and eventually break down if the load is constant or heavy. But the idea that we have to force our body to do what it knows how to do on it's own is kind of always bugged me.
IMO the best "cleanse" is to eat real, whole foods - nothing processed, no white sugar/flour/artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners - lots of fresh vegetables and fruits and drink lots of clean, fresh water. If I find myself really feeling bogged down I will do a one or two day fast - eat nothing solid and just drink water or herb tea or some freshly made vegetable juice. I recently had surgery, too, so I know the feeling of being sluggish from pain meds and anesthesia... I was taking a nap to recover from my most recent nap!
Hope you're feeling better!
