Height . I traded over 24 inches in the culvert for 10 inches in the centipede. Plus I destroyed most of
it trying to remove it from the bed of gravel it was in,in the other bog.
That's why the snorkel was wrapped in rubber due to punctures from the excavator removing it. It wasn't bad I just wanted all water to start out of the centipede not half way up the snorkel.

Got it. I thought the whole point of the 24” culvert was to get more settling space inside the centipede, though. That made sense to me. Would seem like the aquascape unit is a more expensive downgrade. But you didn’t have yours in a trench, I think?

Entire base slopes high side comes up out of the trench. Yes the 24 was a added settling area yes I still like the idea but I preferred the roots not fill the aqua blocks . As I had less than 24 inches before and after 5 years seeing the root mass on many a bog plant I wanted 30 inches of stone to keep the chamber clear. Also it seems the average was to use the small blocks as the settling chamber . I have the large and the whole bog is a full chamber. The flow c,coming from the waterfall into their pond I shut down all but 3000 gph so see how much push there really was in a comparable area and even without it being disbursed across the distance but from one end there's not much flow just displacement so I opted for the thicker stone layers over additional settling.

I'm still 6 feet deep. A good three feet above the ground now with the sides at 8 inches above water level. With plants growing in the stream we could barely see the falls in back one of the main reasons I just rebuilt the bog . It was just missing that pop. Looking like ithe stream was cooming out of the woods.

When the bog falls was new we could barely see the water flow the rocks had not darkened yet from a good soak or algae taking root but it has now and I'm very happy the way it's all coming together I actually have no plans or dreams to do anything else but to finish dress everything the new bog still has a ways to go before she's done .

I recently received THE compliment of compliments, one that I never dreamt I would receive.
I, like so many, have all watched the videos and dreamt that maybe some day we might have a work of art such as they have built time and time again.

The praise I received was very humbling to say the least. Greg Wittstock, The Pond Guy, saw a video of my pond and has stated he would like to Vlog my pond.

Now whether or not this actually happens remains to be seen, as I still can't believe my pond was considered worthy of being added to an Aquascape Vlog. Other than certified Aquascape contractors I don't believe I have ever seen any ponds that were built by a home owner that was showcased by Greg. That is unless it was built by a 14 year old, who with a shovel dug a pond in the back yard of their parents house, just as Greg did when he was that age.
If only it was last year or the year before, Aquascape did a diy'r contest and gave away I want to say a 5k gift certificate to their products. Your pond would have easily won and you could have paid for your recent unintended aquascape products purchase .

I didn't enter for two reasons one i believe you had to show proof of purchase, i had their lights 1 and 3 watt and aqua blocks. And at the time the last thing i needed was more supplies to build some more POND. i still have plenty of land to triple what i have now. DON'T TEMPT ME. i could easily double it and use no more power then i am right now that is unless i added a couple power heads for extra circulation.

Got a bit perturbed with the picture quality of late, and broke out the camera but not the tripod, the shots came out ok .
I have added quite a bit of lights to the landscaping etc. a little more to go.

Muytel the turtle update. As three other visitors showed up at the pond . One visitor has stoped hopefully on its own but I'm skeptical. There's no fence that kept Muytel in the pond for her two month visit . Buy alas she is no where to be found . Was it the fox or was it a possum who knows.

Pond is like bath water these days . The recent heat wave I could do without but it is still nice coming home and doing the nestea plunge.

In the second photo there are two purple lustrifes the one on the left is In the peastone bog . That did not get remodeled the past spring. It's deep green loaded with flowers.
While the second in the newly remodeled bog the plant has a yellowly tinge to it and no where near as many flowers.
I lean toward lack of denitrous in the soil for the solar difference
