Going for it! phase one 12,000 gallon pond.

For the first time I am planning on leaving the pond running all winter but I have shut down the 12000 gph and im running a small 3000 gph submersible from dead pool up to the stream. And the cistern pump is running up to dead pool. It's a whopping 4 degrees here today and the ice created the sculptures over the falls. The Bog is not running at this point but i am probably going to change that a run a temporary 2 inch line to the bog. I don't want to run the 12000 as it would probably chill the water too much. ill add a pic tomorrow . Well THE WARMTH AND RAINS RUINED THE ICE but i still have the pond up and running this winter which is a first for me, but my travels are over I hope for good.
THE FIRST IS JUST THE 420 GPH RECIRCULATING PUMP.

THE SECOND IS 3000 GPH OVER TWO FALLSS

Covid is going strong as ever where I live, so here I come back to the forums!

All the ponds are doing pretty well! I shut the raised one down for the winter, but it was running smoothly and that bog kept the water crystal clear. Can’t wait to get it up and going again in the spring.

As for my pond, the impeller on the pump seized and the pond iced over, but I have been able to get the ice open every few days, and the company sent a new pump out. So less smoothly, but just overwintering it.

I was up in the blue ridge mountains to visit friends and there are some great natural waterfalls near their log cabin . sad i forgot my camera . Believe me log cabins are not warm at all . darn near froze until I crawled down on the floor and slept next to one of their wood stoves and pellets stoves . Wondered why they had one on each floor found out fast why that night . GEEZE not for me . main reason I always have a spare pump or two .

You were away for a while, I could not catch the multitude of babies that breed every year between the 6 foot depth the width and length and all the fish caves tunnels and boulders i gave them to avoid predators . Not thinking that i'd be one of those predators SOME DAY. So i put an addition on the pond and made a narrow entrance so i could close it off. I could the catch the fish in there. IE Dead Pool. Dead pool has a negative edge and when I tried a couple gold fish they went over time and again thus naming it SHTS CREEK Meening they just feel into the last pool a small 6 x 8 area where the external pump draws from not exactly a friendly place for fish as 6000 GPH draw from there, that too how ever has an over flow that drops into the cistern " Hells gate" no pool just a fabric basket and thats why they have the names they do. i have seen small koi in both the cistern and in the snorkel of the bog . A disadvantage I supose to The so called bells and whistles. But that is what the bog is about life to death feeding life.

You could make a movie about my life for sure .It has never been mundane. I never go to one place and do the same thing day in day out it always changes.

Na no haunting this is the real deal ..... But i could tell you a story that would not sit well with squeamish folks..,... besides it would be more a swamp thing with the pond
