A frog enjoying the sun this afternoon. We spotted it pop up from amongst the hairgrass whilst we were relaxing in front of the pond:

Well here is a long window pictogram of the frogs I caught on camera, a bunch jumped before I could snap the shot. so how did our frogs do over winter...........very very well

I started at the deck pond worked down the stream into the bog and small preforms. All of the small ponds and bog have some sting growing until the plants take over. Does not bother me the tads love it.

Ha Ha Ha you have so many it is insane! Those froggies don't know how lucky they are to have such a nice place to live. What if you wouldn't have dug that pond? Those suckers owe you big time :D

I have the spongy algae in my bog, too, but the frogs love hiding in it. There were about 6 at any given time that I could spot. Most of them are in the goldfish pond bog. Loved seeing the little tadpoles, Addy. I have none this year again. Not sure if the toads are not around anymore, or not breeding in my backyard ponds, maybe they prefer my pasture pond... And, only one year had bullfrog tadpoles, and then only noticed them because I was emptying out the bog. Wonder if they are there every year, but I never noticed them. Another interesting thing ... all your frogs are green frogs, and all mine are bullfrogs. It took me forever to see the difference, but now it's plain as day. :)

This last pic is of a bullfrog that was floating like this most of the day, next to some lily pads. The fish were swimming all around and under him, no worries. The orange/white in the water are goldfish.

The green frogs like fishless ponds, I saw one in the big pond, none in the 1000 gallon pond. Both of those have fish. All of the frogs were in the stream ponds, the small ponds loop and the bog. They don't share well with fish. All of the egg laying is done in the fishless ponds.

A large number of frogs appeared in the lower pond yesterday. The ice went out of that pond 4 days after it did in the upper pond. I haven't seen one frog there. I guess they froze to death during hibernation, when the water ran out of that pond this winter.

My neighbor and his big koi pond are hogging all the frogs in the hood. I need to do a drive by and jack some of his to my pond :shifty:
I learned all those new words above from tv shows and the news. That's how some kids talk nowadays and you have to keep up w/the times or you will get lost in the conversation
