My little guy is almost ready to be released in the pond! I assumed it was a Green Frog tadpole but now that it actually has coloration I can clearly tell its a Leopard Frog.

Oh my, JB, he's adorable! Looks sooo innocent and tiny! Good luck to him.
Yeah it was pretty awesome! I released it a couple of days ago!

That big one is awesome CE. Wonder if he got that fat eating your little fishy's? That one on the bottom left looked like to me at first like something that came crawling out of the Black Lagoon. I couldn't see his legs and looked like he had a long snakelike body!

Well, if the big guy is eating babies, that's ok with me. I don't have anything smaller than 4" in the goldfish pond, and smaller than 6" in the koi pond. It's possible they are eating the dead fish that I never find, too. The frogs all sure enjoyed the rain and cooler weather this afternoon. Tonight, when I took the puppy outside, I heard a few plops. I'm sure a flashlight would have spotted many large ones on the edge hunting. :blueflower:

Last week I thought I saw a new frog at my pond but it wouldn't let me get anywhere near it to look at it, it would go underwater before I could even see it. All week I've been trying to confirm it. Last night I got a good view of it and today I got a photo from my window. Its a young Bullfrog!

Next summer, when your frogs appear again, JB, they will soon learn that you mean them no harm, and will stay put longer. I catch small grasshoppers and bugs and toss them in for the fish. Learned to leave the caterpillars to become pretty butterflies, though. LOL My frogs have learned to watch where I go and pay attention for possible meals. Yesterday, while digging in the dirt transplanting a tree, I found a huge supply of grubs. The koi and goldfish enjoyed them, but some precisely placed tosses on top of lily pads were meals for the frogs. :blueflower:

Some nights, the noise from a dozen or so frog and toad varieties sweeps around like a mexican wave in a stadium...

With the cooler temps my frogs are spending their time somewhere hidden under the water with the exception of a couple of warm days a week ago, which brought them to the surface, and one even took a grasshopper from my hand, but I haven't seen them since, and now that we are regularly getting frost every morning, I fear I won't see them again until next spring,,,,, I already miss them.
I don't have to worry about noise level from my frogs, the type of frogs I have don't have a very loud croak, in fact their croak is almost inaudible over the sound of the waterfall, but if you listen carefully in this video you can hear the sound they make when I stroke their back. And that's as loud as they get.

Hah that is one well behaved, considerate and feather bedded pet.

Same can't be said for some of the skallywags more difficult to find, the peepers which make such a piercing noise

I think they have a bit of jealously going on between frogs on who gets your attention Mucky. Cute video. Now you aren't that far from me so how come I don't have any of those cool friendly frogs here? Don't I remember you going out somewhere and dragging some home from a pond somewhere? I do have some frogs here but none as big as yours.

That's what I was thinking when I watched that video again, it almost looks like they are fighting for attention.
Your right, I scooped them out of a pond up in the mountains, the only frogs near me are tree frogs, and they aren't really pond frogs. I've found tree frogs just about everywhere you could imagine but in the pond.
