Dave, I can't see what your talking about left of the blur? I've moved the camera to a slightly different location, Now that I know, it's a bird and what time and where I can isolate and figure out what to do next. I guess I better warn the neighbors.

Dr. Dave, I think you were right! Any idea how to run it off? I can get it for justa second or two in the flashlight. I got this shot by guessing where it flew and just hoping I got it to see what it was. I saw it fly into the cypruss tree in the back yard a couple of times. It's actually roosting above my awning and coming down on to the pond. We think he got this guy either last night or early this morning although I didn't catch it on the Trail cam that might have been what he was after in the trail pic we did get.:regular_waving_emot

Hi guys, new here, but may have a little bit of advice. Owls are territorial, i would suggest going and buying a few owl decoys and placing at least one on the roof, maybe in the yard near the pond. If you want to make it seem real authentic, take a few beer bottles and bury them up to their necks in your yard. The wind blowing across the mouths of them will make it sound like there's an owl in your yard.

Owls don't like coyotes either, maybe a coyote decoy? Also, if you can get a motion detector that allows you to set your own sounds, get a howling recording and program it to go off when the owl gets near the pond.

They sell, for not too much, sound making decoys, like if you are trying to hunt it makes the sound of the critter. If I could find mine, which my pass hubby bought, I would send it to you fishin. It makes the sound of the coyote to call them in. That might convince the owl to move on.

He never used it, wanted to get the one that killed my yorkie, but I convinced him shooting in a neighborhood in our back yard was not a good idea. We have an acre but those bullets go further.

Maybe an IR detector and a set of flood lights. The light will scare the hell out of him and maybe keep it from coming back in time. These are nocturnal critters.

JW, They don't work worth a flip. I have tried moving mine, tried mounting it in different ways nothing. All that thing is good for is wetting anyone else that comes to look at the pond before I remember to turn it off while I have vistitors or it soaks me!

I agree, I used a scarecrow for a summer with no luck. I had to take other measures for both the egrets and raccoons.
So far, I have not been aware of any owl attacks, but I do have them here.

Hey if you could rig up a radio out there or some water proof speakers from a radio.................I bet the owl wouldn't like talk radio at all (there are some really weird night owl  radio shows on at the late hours also). When the heron comes around I program mine to come on dawn til sunset but for an owl it would be just the opposite of course. The heron just stares at the pond from the roof of my shed drooling
