Almost, sort of can’t believe it worked. Not the final resting place.

Whoa! Is it like that elsewhere?

It's mostly in the main pond liner around the top edge of the pond. Of course, I can't really look deeper. It's the worst in the large areas of exposed liner that I recently converted to shallow planting areas. I'll have another area that looks similar on the other side of the pond to do.

These are tiny seepers. Each one perhaps a teaspoon of water per hour. Throughout the whole pond, they appear to add up to about 50-60 gallons per day of water loss.

Also, I went crazy and patched every spot I had the slightest suspicion of being a leak. It's possible as much as 50% of the patches you see are not actual leaks and were just wet with condensation or leak from elsewhere traveled there and I couldn't quite tell if was or wasn't seeping.

So, lots of leaks, but maybe not as many as it looks like from the photo. Cause unknown. UV damage from exposure? I live in the PNW—not a lot of intense sun here. Punctures from abrasion from walking on it repeatedly during construction? Maybe, but I have pretty soft soil and this liner is not supposed to require an underlayment for most installations. Something else? Combination? Who knows!

In any case, I'm not as impressed with this liner as I was when I bought it. Seems even a cheap pvc liner from the home improvement store shouldn't have these issues in less than 2 years.

@addy1 Do you have the name of that company, assuming they're still up and running?

Believe her liner came from Bend Tarp and Liner. Wish I’d known of them earlier. Seems top notch in the industry and headquartered close to me.

@addy1: I think you have their PPL36 liner. Is that correct? I think that’s a 5-ply liner vs the typical 3-ply, which is what I have.

Bend tarp and liner, Oregon, they make it to the size you need. This pond is my third liner from them. No issues at all.

Yes ppl36 , I told them we had rock with a bit of dirt. They said with it I needed no underlay, but I still put down carpet pad.

Setting boulders by yourself is hard. Sometimes you need 3 arms. Luckily, Barney is always willing to lend a hand.

My kind of engineering! I've got a gravel-chute sewage pipe held to the correct angle by an iron bar balanced on safety railing and weighted at one end with a large shopping bag filled with bricks. Best I could do with only two hands!

Oh wow! Be careful!!!!!!

Don't worry. I only had my head under there for a second to see if I'd lost my piece of candy.

Humans were blessed with the ability to use tools and multiply their efforts with mechanical advantage. It would be wrong not to do it!
