Now you would go get all defensive. That's what I love so much about text it was a compliment you twit, in law abiding citizen he planned for everything. AS YOU DO , no one will ever dispute that not that it's always a bad thing . You share it in your video they could be more to the point and you'd get a pretty good following as some of them there aren't many videos the like. ,. So before you go all high and mighty look a little deeper to how things might be being directed . and not so oh no hes picking on me again .

I’m not offended, @GBBUDD. Just thought since you’ve been following me around the forum and poking fun at me, you must need some attention. Figured you’d like to get it the way you’ve been giving it. ;)

Yup this puppy dog just lives to follow you around everywhere and anywhere you go. I always use the feature notify me when cw makes a post . If there is one.
I said a Long time ago stop giving advice let them find out on their own. But I have never been able to watch someone go down a questionable road, 2 inch above water line is one of those roads especially with kids. It matters not if a fold is in or out a fold is a fold. which at its max I have ever found was 2 inches for wicking.
Passing along experience to who may ever read your blog down the road, who may no what to risk suck a low shoulder. . Do as you wish sir you've done your own research. Your pond , your way.

Who’s the defensive one?

Never said or meant anything about your advice or my building details. About the last 10 times you’ve addressed me, you’ve had some rude or smart ass comment to go with it (my interpretation). Not a big deal. Don’t love it, but I’m a big boy. I can take it.

Figured you could handle having it dished back at you, but you’re acting more like the playground bully who is suddenly the victim as soon as someone pushes back.

Anyway, this is silly. Sorry I misinterpreted your loving compliment. Let us move on.

I see that you made good use of the idea to roll the liner inward to prevent Wikileaks, er wicking leaks. Interestingly enough, the latest Atlantis Water Gardens video also shows some use made of that technique. Check out the following video at the 6:12 mark:

Barney will be missed! Dare I say this pond could be finished by fall?

For sure. I'm getting the edging all done right now, then time to connect the aeration, hook up the auxiliary pumps, plant the bog, and start planting the pond. Feels very close!

Oh, and I have to make my stream!

@YShahar: Nice eye! That was about a 2 second shot in the middle of the video. I feel validated!

Used to need observational skills for work, so that kind of thing sort of jumps out at me.

Yeah I still have to do the steam as well. The liner was down from the beginning, but for now, it's just a channel with a bare hose pouring water at the end. I'll get there! I think I have all the rocks for it, but each one will need to be rolled in by hand, then critigued from the viewing point, then adjusted... etc. Really looking forward to having this thing done (or at least mostly done).

So what's happening with all those maddening leaks? Still losing water?

So what's happening with all those maddening leaks? Still losing water?

After patching all visible leaks on one side of the pond, water loss was low enough (about 90 gallons/day) that I wasn't sure what was evaporation and what was leaks. So I stopped measuring.

I just came inside from marking leaks on the other side. Will probably patch them in the next few days and start taking readings again. We're getting into the hot/dry season now, though, so won't really be able to compare this round or readings from last when it was still cool, cloudy, and humid. Probably won't really know what's going on until this time next year when I have a year of operation to compare measurements against.

Basically, lots of leaks where liner was exposed and received a lot of continual abrasion, but not enough overall loss to be worth keeping track of.

There is definitely one leaking seam, though. That still makes me grumpy.

I got tired of watering the irises my neighbor bought me, so I set them straight in the bog in their pot—soil, fertilizer, and all. Set in about 6" of water. That was probably 3 or 4 weeks ago.

Well, they started looking a bit stressed, so I pulled 'em out and they STUNK. Like, putrid, sewage stink. Yuck. Tossed the soil out, rinsed the roots down, pruned the dead leaves, and replanted them in their pots with pea gravel. Stuck 'em back in the bog last night.

Does this look ok?

Oh, and here's an interesting update: There's suddenly a lot less algae on the rocks. I noticed this morning when I went out back to do some work. Up until today, every surface in the pond has been kind of fuzzy. If you brush a rock, algae comes off and floats away. All over the sand bottom, too.

But today, it's significantly reduced. Almost can't see any. Water still has a green tint to it—suspended algae I assume. Imagine that will remain until the pond is heavily planted and plants outcompete the algae.

In the meantime, what do you all think about adding just a touch of dye to the water?

The whole pond is in full sun, we're well into summer, and it's going to be awhile still before I can get it all planted. Was thinking adding just a little dye could help shade the water to prevent algae this summer until plants are thriving in next year's growing season.

Looking great. I would not worry about the algae etc let it help your pond mature. Slowly get your plants in. I need to do a major purge in the bog, way over grown.

Not a fan of dye in the pond. Let the water find its balance.

And it may be an optical illusion but is that berm sloping toward the pond as much as the photo makes it appear?
