I slept, napped, at the hospital between calls. Every other night was manageable. A week a time was too much. This is back when sonografers were a rare breed.

As you said except they aren’t better prepared when they are sleep deprived , cognitive function goes way down, I believe scientifically one sleepless night and you have the cognitive function of someone legally drunk. For the longest time I know most peoples attitude at least in the U.S. was I will sleep when I am dead, thing is having that attitude usually brings on the dead part much faster. Heard someone put sleep this way…. if we didn’t need it, why has evolution not eliminated it?

Fortunately, these attitudes towards sleep are changing.
i'd gladly keep that practice of Drs not sleeping if we go back to common sense and bury all the BS That is trying to be mainstream today.

2 days after I fill the reservoir from completely empty we get an unforecasted full day of rain. 😭

But hey, at least the lilies are blooming. This new one just popped up. And look! It has 2 friends!

Speaking of lilies, how do you all care for them? I potted them last fall w/ a slow-release granular fertilizer. Do I need to be adding those tabs throughout the season as well?

And what about pruning/deadheading? Flowers don't last too long. Pads eventually die. Should I be cutting them off at the base? Any tips for how to do that quickly without having to get in?

YES .... three tablets every month for a 5 gallon pot , if lager then use more tablets . try to get the tablets outside of the roots so they don't burn.

Mine are all in wal-mart oil pans so, like, 5 quart pots?
Lots use oil pans, they are fine. You are using slow release so you don't have to put more in each month. Just once per season. Then every year or so you will need to divide them. Wear gloves if you don't like having purple hands.

I did like @j.w did and you c.w. added slow release fertilizer to bottom of pan at the beginning of the season a couple years ago and just repotted a bunch of the, this year and added more fertilizer. Definitely need to do it once a year tried skipping a year, and they didn’t do as well last year In The pots. The ones free roaming in the lily section of my pond do great without fertilizer although the Texas dawn lily can get a bit out of control and try’s to choke out the maya lily.

As long as those Docs don’t operate or treat me, B.S. Isn’t going to go away, just is what it is at this point, we are the land of the perpetually offended…..doesn’t really get me fired up, out of my control

I don't bother cutting off dead leaves or flowers, used to but decided why? I don't mind the dying leaf look, they poof away, yeah add stuff to the pond. It has never added a ton of muck to the pond. This year was my first bottom cleaning job, 11 years. I used to net now and then gave up nothing much removed.

I had maybe a inch of muck on the bottom. I only cleaned to remove excessive hornwort snake hiding spots.

Fertilizing , once a year, osmocote for flowers. 1/4 cup under the litter. Grooming maybe every other year or any that grew excessively.

Plant tabs were a pita to put in, so I didn’t.
