JW, I don't plan to keep any pups, but that could change. The daddy is much larger, like Bostons are supposed to be, probably twice at least the weight of my little petite Denali. He is black and white, the common color. I'm going to guess 5 pups, although I will tell you I guessed 5 for Olive when she had her pups 2 years ago and she had 7! That's WAY many for a Boston. But, every day Denali gets bigger I wonder. When she lays next to me in the recliner in the evening, I put my hand on her belly and those pups are wiggling all the time, poor girl. I'm sure she is ready to have them, but she was bred 9 weeks ago Sun and Mon, so my best guess is that she will have them on Sat., possibly Fri. They usually don't go more than a couple of days early. I'll keep you all posted!

Yep, I'll post pics. I don't have the daddy. Dad is probably twice the weight of my female, but my female is very petite and small for a Boston. He is more proper to the breed character, but I liked her reverse brindle coloring and small size. Going to get panels to set up a second pen, so she will know no one is going to bother her when she's ready to have them. Should have done it a month ago, but I'm kind of last minute type of person. LOL

Has she had puppies before? Get busy and get that poor mama a nest set up. She will be delivering on your bed if you don't hurry up!

Haha, yeah I know! I'll get the parts tomorrow, the hole is already in the wall of the dog shed. Just have to set up the panels, which will take less than an hour. Gate is part of the panel, so that part will be done. Sister is bringing whelping box on Fri. evening. If she has already had the pups by that time, no problem, it will give her a place to raise them and keep the pups inside of, so they don't wander out of the dog box. She stays in the house at night in a crate, and outside in the pen with Yukon during the day. Still may just split the outside pen into 2 pens (each would be 5x10 outside, plus inside area) and cut a new hole in the shed wall, instead of adding another pen on the side (5x10), but will see what I end up doing.
And, this is her first litter, so everything is up in the air. I will get it done and ready tomorrow, hopefully.

Oh, you are so right, Pecan! But, by the time they get to be naughty, they will be someone else's naughtiness. LOL
That's what surprises me about Yukon, the pup someone dumped and I kept. He is about 5 months old now, and does not chew on anything hardly. He got hollered at for taking my quilt batting and tearing it up, never did it again, and same reaction when I hollered at him for getting an envelope of photos out and chewing up a few. Has not touched them again, and they are right there for him to do so. He's very smart and retains discipline very well! Carries stuff into the living room, i.e. shoes, clothes, towels, etc. but never chews anything up ... knock on wood!

CE, Everything looks great. What's the next project? Also my theory keeps proving right. A cute picture of a dog will get many more comments on the gpf than a nice fish picture!

OK, men, you asked for it! Puppies have arrived! I knew Denali was in labor, although I thought it was a couple of days earlier than I'd like, but all went well. I left for work, set her up in her own private birthing room, and had the neighbor kids come over to check on her. They get here first time at 10, as I instructed, and there were 3 pups. By 10:30, they had to come back and check on something for me, and she had another one . By noon, the 5th and final one was there. We did lose one during the afternoon, it got stuck next to the bed she was on, on it's back, and could not get back up, or maybe it get laid on but that's nature. I have 4 boys, if I'm not mistaken, which is quite strange! And, the one that died was also a boy. Here are a few pics:

She did really well, and is such a good Mom! Didn't even want to come out to eat or go potty this morning but a little extra encouragement helped. She's still getting used to the idea that she has infants in her care. :) Finally growled at Yukon this morning, and all he did was look at her from about 5' away! That's way more normal, than totally ignoring him and letting him sniff her pups like happened yesterday. They are apart, no worries for new mom Denali. She will have all weekend to get used to the babes. I have to work today, but took tomorrow off and have company coming tomorrow evening to oooo and ahhhhh over the wee ones.
