looks good but how are your callas doing .I heard online that some calla lily bulbs will rot fast and give off a white slime .Not sure if that is what is happening to yours and maybe you should go to the garden forum and ask and someone there might know .I saw them on the garden almanac show out of North Carolina and she started hers by soaking them in water and then planted them in soil for in her garden .I know elephant ears and cannas grow better when i soak them in water for a day and then plant them .You could check out you tube they have several videos of how to plant them

CE I thought your Creeping Primrose was Ludwigia or something like that. Anyways glad your pond looks clearer and as for the LIKE thing I thought it was a certain amt for different forums but then went to LIKE again somewhere else and that did not work so I haven't a clue and I give up trying to figure out why I can LIKE one minute and not the next and then LIKE again, lol!

Haha, I won't worry too much about the likes ... I'll just post it in the readable section. LOL
Sissy, I'm not sure about the calla lilies. They looked to be fine, but maybe I'd better check the same pot again. I wonder if it was a different brand of the cat litter that I used, too. But, I make positive that I'm buying pure clay and nothing scented, so just not sure. Only difference is the type of bulbs in there. I'll check them again.
The ponds were both better this morning, worse again this evening, but not as bad as have been. What's the deal with morning clarity and evening more murky? Someone else posted about morning very clear and her hubby feeding in the evening always saying it was cloudy. She always saw it clear as she fed in the a.m. Well, I'm noticing the same thing. Must have something to do with the sunshine, although on the weekend never had a full day of sun either day. Pretty cloudy. Maybe just the "light" vs. dark at night.
Yes, JW, what I have in my farm pond is ludwigia or something like that, and since it "creeps" I have been calling it creeping primrose, as in "creeping water primrose" or creeping ludwigia. Sorry for the confusion.
And, speaking of confusion, I was correcting my friend, who is a "certified" Master Gardener, according to the extension Office program, and she was naming things different than what they were! It got kind of funny, as I finally looked at her and said, "Are you certain you took the whole Master Gardener course?!" We both got a laugh out of that. I think it was the way she was pronouncing names, and how they are spelled that was messing her up. We figured everything out, though.
I'm ready for some more sunshine and warm weather! Heading up to 70's next few days, thankfully!

Haha, BrandonsDad, I didn't work on the pond either Monday or Tues. Figured I deserved a break. Was going to ride my horse last night, came home and it was raining. So, scrapped that idea, decided to do other things on my list (take pull cord off of tiller was one, but could not figure out how to get the housing off ... Grrrrr), and then about 30 minutes before sundown, the sun came back out. Go figure. Riding is on my schedule again this evening, and so is rain "pm showers". WTH!!! Rain in the morning while I'm at work would work much better, Mother Nature! LOL
Water clarity is coming and going. Frustrating. I'm hoping the warmer weather will help kick things into action. BUT, also see 70/50's for couple days, then back to freaking 50/30's for a few before back up to the 70's again. Come on ... either warm or cold, not this back and forth crap. I want to get my water hyacinths shipped, but not with 49/38 and 57/38 predicted for Sat. and Sun. However, I see that Mon starts another warming trend. I guess if that stays put for the 10 day outlook, I'll be telling her to ship them on Mon or Tues after all! Tues through next Friday temps go from 65/56 to 79/61. Now THAT I can handle. Going to be a cold chilly weekend, though. No catching goldfish yet either. Ho hum ....

Same here ce, we are back into freeze warnings, heavy frost this am. Poor plants just started putting out new growth from the last freeze back. We are dropping to 30 as our low, poor plants........... I have two foot high tomatoes I started from seed, setting flowering and putting out tomatoes in our living room, waiting for it to be warm enough to be outside. April has been colder than february now.

I agree, Addy. I am very ready for the 60's and 70's predicted for next week! I can endure another cold snap if Mother Nature would just leave the warmer spring temps for next week and increase from there! Well, leave them for about a month would be great! I love 50-70 temps!
I did notice my purple iris which I separated and added some to the bog and along the stream this spring, is sending up buds. Roses are starting to bloom, but hoping they wait after this cold snap to really bloom profusely. Here are some pics I took last weekend around my house.

Ajuga shade groundcover - just planted it last fall, on clearance, along with coral bells and another plant. Doing really well!

My Japanese Maple surrounded by Lamium - shade lover, yellow and green leaves, little purple flowers in the spring.

One of the new Supertina Petunia colors - tiny flowers, blooms profusely all year.

I've had this plant for about 5 years, moved some to this house from rental, and cannot for the life of me remember what it is. I thought it was a type of coral bell, but friend called it something else, and now I forgot what she called it. Anyone know? It's low growing, on the south side of the house. Didn't bloom last 2 years, so maybe needed to be more rooted before it would bloom.

I just feel sorry for the plants they grow, get smacked, grow again, get smacked again. No peaches this year, the trees were covered with blossoms, either it was too cold after they blossomed or there where no bugs out that early.

Well really don't think there will be any great water quality in ponds with this kind of weather .We were in the 50's last couple of days and now going back up to 70 and 80 and then more rain and saturday and sunday 60 's .Had to go to Danville yesterday so that took time ,made an offer on another house ,not for me,to help the people that came down to look .Gave the bank 24 hours to answer and price firm and final ,my realtor knows I'm stubborn ,so take it or leave it and since the house has been on the market for 3 years ,well I'm sure they will take it since it is cash deal.

Well, most of my landscaping up to this point has been around my house. So, when the frost came and hit hard, everything was fine since it was sheltered by the house, and warmer there as well. I was surprised that the flowers and perennials I planted along the sides of the stream didn't get hurt, but pansies like the colder weather anyhow, and the others were perennials, so they were fine.
Toads are "squeaking" tonight, and a big bullfrog was croaking earlier. I spotted him, pretty good sized "dude". Also medium sized frog on the wall of the goldfish pond. He just sits there and smiles at me. LOL Here's a pic I took of one last year.
s very friendly and loves his pic taken.JPG
Still don't know what type of frog, but I'm thinking now it is not a juvenile bullfrog, as last summer I could have thought that, but wouldn't they be full grown in the spring? Anyhow, he looks like he's always smiling.
I have still never seen any toad or frog eggs. Did have those big tadpoles in the bog last year, though. I think it is not yet time for the eggs, although I did see those toads playing piggyback in the koi pond. LOL I walk all the way around the ponds every day to see if I see any eggs, and so far none.
Noticed that my waterfall was overflowing slightly down into the bog, but some of the overflow was getting on the ground. I fixed that so hoping tomorrow that area will be dried up. Need to get the quilt batting removed and just wait out the bacteria, I think. I don't see any real improvement with the batting myself.
Water was 65 degrees this evening. Fed the goldfish only because there is really no algae or anything on their pond yet, since it's so new. The koi were also begging, but they will just have to wait until after this weekend, and then hoping that the weather will level out!
