Rained yesterday and this morning, got over 2", so worked in the house, and then went to Menards and got the rest (I hope) of the landscape stones I will need to finish the outside wall of the new pond. Also got landscape stones to edge the flower beds and the stream flower beds, and since I was at it, and they were all on sale, decided to widen my sidewalk I built last spring. One part is 4' wide, the other part about 2', and I'm going to make both the same, so can walk side by side with someone. The narrower was ok for me, but don't like it when friends are here, have to walk single file or on the grass.
Menards also had a "bistro" patio set, my favorite color - marroon - and just 2 chairs and a small table, so I bought that as well! I didn't want a big patio set taking up my wide open deck, and this really is perfect. I put it together and now have a place to sit with coffee and a book, if I don't want to be reclining. LOL
I think tomorrow morning I'll be sitting out here drinking my coffee, talking to the fish and frogs. :) New patio set.JPGNew Bistro patio set.JPG
The chairs kind of rock, very comfy! Came with the cushions, so couldn't beat the price and loved the style.

CE, nice patio set! I do the water changes, but always use declorinated water that has been sitting in a bucket for a day. I have a nice collection of buckets! If you do small water changes up to 10-15% of total pond volume with declorinated water it won't hurt your beneficial bacteria and over time it will help clear your water up. Cycling the pond won't necessarily get rid of the particulates that are making it cloudy.

That's a cute patio set and while you sit there talking to the fish and frogs maybe one will turn into a Prince for you! Got to kiss him tho!

LOL, JW, the way I love frogs anyhow, I probably would kiss any that jumped into my lap. :luxlove: :luxlove: :luxlove:
I wish I knew what the medium sized frogs were. They are really friendly, usually don't jump into the water (or at least a couple of them are this way), same as like last year. I noticed one in the right beside me as I was pulling algae last fall! Just sat there, not 10" from my arm. The must be the wrens of fish. LOL Like being around humans. I'll try to get another pic of one this morning, see if anyone can identify it. I always call them juvenile bullfrogs, but I suspect they don't get any larger, not sure.

Love the set and must be like the old gliders .There is an auction coming up here and there are 3 sets of those metal gliders and chairs and hoping to score one at least .The last 3 auctions I went to there were not many people at them .Wish we could get a little of that rain so the fire danger goes away .

A bunch of my frogs freeze rather than jump when I get near. They do jump if I start to move close too close to them. Been in a almost touching range more than once. Actually touched one to make sure it was alive, it just did not move, but when I touched it, it bailed.

Was working on the outside wall this afternoon. There was a frog on the opposite side of the pond the whole time, almost. When I moved a stone, there was a big wolf spider! Yuck!!! I do NOT like spiders, and the wolf spiders are huge. Tried 3 times to throw it across the pond to the frog, he never went for it, and wind kept blowing it back to me. Then later I tried throwing a worm to him. Worm landed perfectly, on the outside liner (he was on the inside edge of the liner) and crawled right over the edge to the frog, who promptly gobbled him up. :) I know, it's cruel to the worm, but was fun to watch him eat. Still no little peeper type frogs showing up, hoping warmer temps will bring them back out of hiding. :)

My croakers are back in full force! It's so nice to leave the windows open and listen to them. Really enjoying this time of year and our weather.

More rain last night ... I've requested it be sent to the east coast, so far no luck. :-( Looked out at the goldfish pond, 2 bullfrogs side by side with just their heads above the water. I have a feeling it was a pair, as one was definitely much larger (twice the size) than the other. Woohoo!
Started getting the outside wall done yesterday, finally drained the bog down at least halfway so I could move and reposition the outside wall stones. I know ... should have done that FIRST before adding pea gravel, but I was anxious to get it filled in! Went about 3/4 of the way around the bog wall, so I'm about 1/3 of the way around the pond. Working on it evenings, should have it done by the weekend, then ready to "cap off" the walls. Then I will know how many more rocks I'll need to get, besides a skid of the flagstone for the creek.

only a trace since 3/1 . We are dry, high fire dangers.

I save wolf spiders, they are great hunters of bugs. Just don't get on me lol

Was out late last night walking and frogs were croaking everywhere I went!
Spiders don't bother me. They are my friends but not my hubby's...........he makes me get them out! We were watching Amazing Race last night and peeps had to get honey from African Killer bee hives. Hubby said to me, "I bet you would be afraid to do that". I said "I bet you would be afraid if they were spiders............... and then we did the No I wouldn't yes you would shuffle, lol!
