the bees would have been in trouble without the exit hole. Next year the holes will be facing south.good gosh how great is that addy .

Without the upper exit, the moisture from the heat of the bees will cause condensation on the inside of the cover that will drip down on the bees. Wet bees are dead bees. The exit allows moist air to escape. Keeps the hive dry.How lovely of them to do that for you! It's so nice to have neighbours who help each other out
