Outside temp -8 C
Pond water near the surface +1 C
Bottom of the pond temp +3.5 C
2 ft+ of snow covering the pond.

The pond is completely frozen over now, and has been for a couple weeks. No heaters, no air pumps, no holes in the ice. The fish, frogs and turtles will have to survive on whatever oxygen was saturated into the water before it froze over. I'm pretty confident they'll be alright.

You can do that with the heavy duty foam insulation under it also .There is a floating dock at a pond near my house for those foot paddle boats and he used the blue stuff under it.It is attached to the ground on land and then he has the other part attached by some time chain as i see in the winter he folds it back over the land dock .He has had it that way for over 8 years now .It was made from used pallets

Wow Colleen your temps sure have been fluctuating a lot. Now you are about the same temp as we are here. Oops there is a burn ban here and I didn't know it and made a fire this morning. I'm letting it burn out now..............don't want a $1,000. fine!
