Thanks everyone for sharing your rainy pics. I know you may be tired of it, but hey, I would give ANYTHING for a nice 2 or 3 day shower here. I'm beginning to think the grass will never grow again, it's so dead and brown and it all dried up, nothing left but dirt. I'm heading to my daughter's house in UT tomorrow, and she says it has rained there every day for the last 9 days or something like that! I told her to please hold some of that rain for me! Oh, how wonderful it will be to have rain.
Addy, I think my total rain for July was 1.3" .... FAR below normal. Today it was 103 on way home from work again. Not much better rest of the week. Hoping for cooler temps in UT ... and RAIN.
Here's my front yard ... sad sad sad.

Not very far from me, there are green spots in people's yards, but within maybe 10 miles, everyone's yard looks just like this. Total brown and dead. I'm to the point of having to water landscaping every other day or it will die, too. Last year it was just as hot as this year, but we got good inch rains about weekly, so not nearly as bad.
Some good things about having a drought in the midwest: No mosquitos (none, I'm serious!!!), no flies (I've had maybe 2 in my house all summer), no mowing necessary (I've mowed once in the last 6.5 weeks now, and it will be another 2 weeks before I mow again, if then) so saving gas and wear and tear on the mower, humidity is way down as there is no moisture in the air or on the ground.
All that said, I still would love to see some good showers happening!
