No hummers been spotted here yet this year. Usually, once you have a feeder, the following years they will buzz around you or come to your window as if to say, "I'm baaaaack, feed me, would you?" I've heard many many people say the hummers did that to them, too. I need to get my feeder cleaned out and ready.
I did see a damsel fly again today. It came to sit by me while I was working on stripping my porch swing (that project was a failure ...) and even though my camera was close, it was not close enough, and he buzzed away before I could grab it.
Same for a tiny baby snake that I saw when I turned over an edge stone on the goldfish pond. He looked at me and I thought of the camera, but knew he would not stay put long enough. He boogied into the pond pronto. Pretty sure it was a garter snake. I thought they were strictly land snakes, but now that I know they will go into water, I won't worry much about him being in there. My fish are too big for him, at least the size he is now!
Beautiful weekend. 70's, sunny, breezy (maybe too breezy, but I'll take the temps). Got tons done - mowed, ran gutter drain under paver sidewalk and then covered the trench; sprayed for weeds and the driveway rock areas, moved 4 of the 6 trees I bought an planted a month ago (note to self: measure the mower BEFORE planting trees ....) and then brought my big potted plants out of the spare bedroom back to the back deck.

My yard is soooo green, too. I sprayed all the dandelions, then realized I should have waited a while, so the bees would have them to snack on until other flowers were in bloom. DARN!!!! Oh well, it will sure look nice in 2 weeks when I have company coming from WI!
Sissy, that water line you have shooting across the water, how is that fed, and is there an airline in there, too? I was thinking of connecting something to do that this summer, keep the top of the water moving with lots of added air.

No just split a line off the pump .I just used a regular T pvc connector on the hose and the other hose goes to the filter and that one has a ball valve so i can turn it down .Part of the hose comes from the pump and then 1 hose on each end of the T with a clamp .like this but a T instead .I glue a pice of pvc pipe inside the T on each side and then clamp hose to it .

I have never had a hummingbird feeder so I'm not sure how long it will take for them to find it. My guess is that since its right by the pond they should find it easy.

Tough to say. Some years we get quite a few, other years I never see them. Same thing with Orioles. Very hit-and-miss around here.

you know pressure treated wood if you wet it and spray it with a bleach and water solution the color will come back to it's natural color .Of course not near plants and pond .I usually do it when it is raining out Also great for killing off ants because here we have a big problem with them

ants have been horrible this year, those little black ones constantly trying to come into the house, and sometimes getting in.

We only made it to 60, they are saying 80 on thursday
