We took off into the sun and rode our bikes around town all day. Pretty nice day and sun is still out. Took some pix of the feds at work all set up at the old high school. They are using our town as a base station for the mudslide searchers. Feels weird to see our sleepy little town looking like a war zone.

The big building is the old high school that they are working in.

39 dead now and only 4 missing so the body recovery is almost over hopefully. It has really been hard work for the searchers going through that awful mud and dealing w/ all the rain that continues to fall off and on. Look at this picture that I took today of where the North and South Fork of the Stillaguamish River meet. The side on the left where you see the muddy water if from the Oso slide area and the side on the right is the South Fork that is not near the slide area. Weird how there is a line right down the middle of muddy and then clear water where they come together. Both Forks of the river then flow under the bike bridge together into one river heading to Puget Sound.

I'm baaaaaaaaack! My son finally returned my computer, had it a week, and OMG, no way I can catch up on reading this thread and the Good Banter, so just going to say I'm back, and go on from here! Hope I didn't miss anything important in the last week. Maybe Mitch is thawed out, and the rains are done in other places. Hoping everyone had a very Happy Easter weekend! The weather here was the most perfect it could possibly be. Mid to upper 70's, sunny, and light breeze. Here are a few flower pics from the last week.
I love hyacinths, and this year they are really looking beautiful! I have them in groups across my front flower beds.

And my bleeding heart is just beginning to bloom.

Triple tulips ... these have been here since I bought the house, so no idea how long total. Love how they bloomed in a row like this

And, has anyone ever seen a huge water bug like this? It was almost 2" long, very shiny (that's what caught my eye, as it was on top of the skimmer lid, and the lid was matt look, so the shiny stood out), and I got a few pics before it spotted me and darted into the goldfish pond.

I mowed last Friday for the first time, always mow high especially this time of year, to help keep the weeds at bay. I noticed I only have a very few dandelions so far this year. Will spread crabgrass killer this week, then next time I mow will spray with Weed B Gone, or sometime in the near future. I love a pretty grass yard, love to mow, and if there's extra grass, I use sweeper and give it to the horses, who anxiously watch me when I get the sweeper out!
We are to get down to 42 tomorrow night, but then back to 50's to 70's, so I'm enjoying an honest to goodness spring this year!

Up to 70 today (degrees Farenheit, Addy) but cooler again tomorrow. Up and down, up and down! Pond is still sitting at 40 F., damn cold when you stick your hands in. Want to get the filters going, but the cold cripples my hands, so I'll have to wait. 'Till July, probably! :(

sunny warm day and got my block and got my lotus pond done .Got delayed I was about 4 car lengths back when a car sideswiped another car and the 1 car lost control and went up over the hill on the side of the road and i stopped to help out and called 911 .I told 911 I saw the whole thing and they just asked my name nothing else .Told them to send a tow truck and ambulance .The lady on the hill was not really doing to good in her breathing and her 2 front tires were flat .I figure since she was an older woman better safe than sorry .You know cars passed us and no one else even stopped, talk about southern hospitality .Neither woman had a cell phone .Takes a northern woman ;)

Good for you sissy. Glad to see there are a few nice people wanting to get involved even if it slows their day up a bit. Hope the ladies are going to be ok.

Was sunny a few moments ago, now turning grey but should warm nicely to the low 60's anyways. Need to clean off my batting in the holder under the waterfall and put it back in again for more refining.

We actually got to 77 F. a little while ago! There is hope yet! Pond is up to about 45 F., but it's a little hard to read since the glass over the thermometer is all fogged up.
