It was 84f yesterday. Freezing/below freezing temps along with rain, ice and sleet later this evening and tomorrow. What's up with this crazy weather?

Colleen, I have a large tall heavy duty garbage container that I use for my Skippy type filter/waterfall for the koi pond. The line going from pump on milk crate in that pond USED to go outside of the pond, follow the outside of the waterfall area, to the container. That's the line that pulled away and ran my pond water on the ground. Thank goodness the pump was not on the bottom of the pond! I relocated that line to the inside edge of the waterfall, covered all the line that would be above water level with an insulation sleeve, and buried it about 12" in the ground along the edge of the waterfall. However, that didn't help, it still has water that stays in it if the pump quits or something happens, so going to do things very different this coming summer. Not positive yet what, but for sure going to expand the bog, have probably a stream running on the outside of the bog, and try to keep everything running closer to ground level next winter. If I have a waterfall, it will simply be that ... a waterfall. Not attached to any filtration system. The goldfish pond is crystal clear, with everything running all year long.
Oh, and the temps here say 45 degrees, but I would swear it's more like 60 out there! Sat outside, enjoying the sunshine ... calm before the storm ... after got a bunch of "to-do" things done!

The nice thing about March is that the nights are getting shorter and when the sun comes out, it really warms things up nice! Bear is outside sunning on top of the old car and Poppy is barking to get out right now. I got some seed planted too the other day and tomorrow I will plant the peppers and tomatos too cause tomorrow I am off!

that's the main reason I put liner around my tanks that leads right back to the pond any leaks stay in the pond .

A little drippy out there right now and no more sunshine. And I don't think it got that cold last night like my computer temp thingy said it would get. Don't mind one bit. Warmer the better now. I'm done w/cold

They never get weather right JW .Here it supposed to be 53 degrees but sure don't think it got near that so far .Have to make hubby something to eat so had to stop for now but needed the rest .I sure am not as young as used to be

I think I am going to cancel the park walk today, too cold for puppies and their pads on their feet might crack even if out for just a short walk . Puppies not getting any younger either and I see no "rush" to get out the door, besides sonething funny going on with Russia and USA today, non stop breaking news in the Ukraine, will keep an eye on the situation, heard Russia is at highest level of alert since 1962 and reports leaking out that USA maybe already at Deathcon III

Got the tile all put down. Grouting tomorrow. Not going to leave pumps running all winter next year. May set up a pump like Addy has just below surface on pond one but with pond two being 5' deep, may not work. This adds a lot of extra work this spring on top of a huge list to repair leaking filters.

My neighbor is full Ukranian but born here in the states. Her parents are from Ukraine...............notice I said Ukraine and not The Ukraine as I was informed by her that the correct way is just to say Ukraine and no the before it. They consider it a disgrace or something. She has nothing good to say about Russia. She and her husband went to Ukraine and adopted a baby about 10 yrs ago. I need to talk to her and get her views on the problems going on right now.
