Not bad here today, not bad at all. At least it's not raining and sun was out but now hiding behind a cloud. Glad it was dry this morning as my cat caught a mole and was batting it around out there while I was on the phone w/ my bank. All I could do was cringe when I saw her w/ it and wait till I got off the phone to take it from her. She didn't hurt it so I tried to pick it up by the back of the neck fur but it screamed every time I tried and that freaked me out. I had no gloves and nothing to put it in so I took my boot and sock off and shoved it in my boot. Took it inside and put it in a box and walked it down the road to a vacant wooded area and let it go. I am just a softie and could not let the cat hurt it. He/her wanted me to take its picture for you all to see so I obliged :cheerful:

54 here, but it says it feels like 62 and I'd have to agree. Nice day. Rained for a bit this morning, but beautiful out there now.

JW ... you probably freak that poor mole out more than your cat did LOL ... hope it finds a nice new home in the woods.

A lot of damage to the yard plants, it was a hard freeze, my guess is they will come back. The cape myrtles, all new growth, the leaves look dead, black wilted. Some of the ground plants top growth is dead. This morning all the plants looked beaten up, a lot bounced right back. Wait and see on the plants.

Now heading into the 50's at night.

So sorry addy.
Is ok, all part of weather and nature. Most likely they will come back ok, The main plant is not dead, just the new growth. They should have enough energy to regrow leaves.
Even the butterfly bushes got smacked and they are pretty tough.

I think in my area, they say no frost after April 15, so I would guess that's a really late frost, and to have such a hard one, too. Darn, so hard on the plants, but you're totally right, they will bounce right back, especially when the much warmer temps hit your area in a day! Beautiful day here today, in the 80's, only getting down to about 60 tonight, so all windows will remain open. Have to remember to close all curtains except south where the plants are that I've started ... need to get them planted, but some of them are those trees that my neighbor asked me to try to start for him. Anyhow, need to get the caladiums out. I got pink/green (all 4 sprouted and are growing), white/green (all 4 sprouted/growing) and red/green (not one of them has sprouted yet!). My master gardener friend told me they take a long time to sprout, and the 8 that did took a month or more, now it has been I think 2 months, and still no shoots coming from all 4 of the red/green ones. Darn, those were my favorites, too! Oh well, will have to enjoy these others as they grow.
That sure is an adorable little mole, JW. Good for you to relocate him. I just hope no one ever relocates one in my area! I've still never seen one in my yard or property since I've moved here. To me, that's a minor miracle!!!

 Adorable Mole?!?! I'm sorry, they anything BUT adorable! Ha! I sure wish I could relocate the ones in my yard! I still have my pitchfork out, but I swear they're like a fly when you pick up a fly swatter, soon as you pick one up they disappear!

CE, the caladiums, do you have to force them before you can put them out? I got some today, never planted them before.
I also got a geranium, and the foliage smells like lemons!! Who woulda thunk? Lol

Did you get Caladium bulbs or the plants, Fishy? I got the bulbs, really cheap, earlier this year, when I just needed to put something in a pot and watch it grow. good thing my friend told me they take a long time to sprout, or I may have given up on them. I suspect the red/green ones will eventually sprout, too, just taking longer. I could have put the bulbs in the ground, but I wanted to give them a head start. Maybe they wouldn't have taken any longer, maybe shorter sprouting had I put them in the ground AFTER it warmed up, which would be now. I saw some Caladium plants same colors as what I got in bulb form, should have just bought the plants. One plant was double what I paid for 4 bulbs, but worth it, not having to wait .... LOL Oooo ... anything that smells like lemons is good in my book. What is the type, since you just bought it and likely still have the tag?

Yes I still have the tag out in the garden, I'll find it and post it tomorrow with a picture. I got three to put around the back yard, hopefully helping with Mosquitos! Still looking for lemon grass, no luck here yet though.

You guys are funny! Yes those little vermin are cute but I too kill them, I used to think mice were cute too, till they were jumping all over the kitchen one year, then their I was the farmers wife, ready to cut their tails with a carving knife!! Ha ha ha. Not a farmers wife, but I remember all the old nursey rymes well! I keep snap traps ready in the basement now, just in case ....
