Woohoo, JW got up early enough for her grand daughter's arrival into this world, and on a Sunday no less! She's gorgeous! Lots of cuddles coming up in her near future.
Although it was 50 still last night when I got home at 10 p.m., it is back down to 35 this morning, which is still far above normal, but I'm loving it!
Since I mentioned I was cross stitching this past weekend, I got a TON done on the Tree Skirt. I pretty much did the whole fawn which is a lot of work, but probably worked on this for at least 12 hours this weekend. I think it's pretty cute. :)

Wow, hard to top a new baby :), but weather?

WET, WET, WET! -- oh, like a new baby -- wasn't thinking when I typed that, but it fits, LOL!!

We started out Sunday morning with cannon-ball thunder & lightening that brought 2" of rain. By mid-day, it cleared and the sun was out for a few hours, just in time for one of the local Mardi Gras parades. Now, more rain!

The stuff that came through here yesterday AM is the same stuff that hit Hattiesburg, MS with tornadoes yesterday afternoon. Hubby is from H/burg and has family [sister] there. Fortunately, they are all OK.

What a NIGHT! Got a call at just before midnight last night. One of my really good friends called and they were hit by a tornado yesterday afternoon. Just got back from Hattisburg Miss. http://www.foxnews.com/weather/2013/...officials-say/ My friends house was completely leveled by the tornado that hit. We were able to borrow a 8'x12' enclosed trailer and packed it with all their belongings that we could locate from the house in the trailer with room to spare. Literally they lost everything from their cars, home, clothes, boat, you name it, it's gone. We just got through unloading the trailer into the tack room of the barn and my friend borrowed my truck and went back this morning to return the trailer to his neighbor and see if he could locate anything else and assist his neighbors. We loaded up my chainsaws, fuel, generator, and other things he thought he might could use to help. His wife and three year old son are upstairs asleep. It was unbelievable how much damage there was. We noticed a few people that had cuts and bruises and from my understanding no one was killed, Which is a miracle! If you see the damage first hand it's amazing no one got killed. Thankfully My friend and his family escaped with no injuries, I ended up with a cut on my arm digging through the rubble but nothing that even needed medical assistance. Please say a prayer for those effected. The People in Hattisburg sure could use some prayers right about now. Think I'm going to take a nap and listen to the rain fall, and be thankful I'm in a position to help my friends out for a while.
Kind of ironic, after being all excited yesterday with my new Koi coming, It seems pretty petty now.

While typing this Roland (their three year old son) woke up and came down stairs, he sat down beside me and ask what I'm doing. I told him I was telling everyone what happened last night. He looked up and ask, Did you tell them that the tornado took my Daddy's truck and smashed it all up? Then he ask me if we ever found buffy their cat? I'm sitting here now in tears, we never found her and I can see he misses her. He seems so strong yet so fragile, sitting here watching TV and has one of our dogs with it's head in his lap. I'm just thankful I'm in a position where I could help and hopefully Kevin will find Buffy this morning. He took my truck and the trailer back to see what else he could find. They had Ins. coverage on everything which is good to know, I have the extra truck that just sits here most of the time so I told Kevin he could use it as long as he needs it. My son is bringing over some clothes his stepson has outgrown for Roland to see if any will fit, and I plan on taking them into town to get personal items later today.

The poor little guy and sometimes the kitties get so scared it may take awhile to find them. I sure hope they do tho as it would sure brighten his spirit while having to go through all this scary stuff! Sending a special little prayer for kitty to be found soon.

Our oldest daughters dog went through the tornado that hit Joplin a few years back. He was found 3 miles away from our daughters cousins house where he lived (her cousins house was leveled). A vet took him in and fixed him up, then found his home. Lucky pup. Hopefully there is a happy ending like that for the kittie.

Oh, I hope they find Buffy! Wonder if she was micro-chipped? Larkin, they sure are lucky to have you as a friend! My SIL [in H/burg] lives on the opposite side of town from where the tornadoes hit, and they were fortunate in that respect. She said there was a lot of damage. We're going to call & talk to them tonight.

Where have I been! I somehow missed the news cause I was busy working and stuff. Very sorry to here about the big tornatos that hit down there Larkin, you must have been very stressed out, tornatos would scare the heck out of me. It is good to here you and your friends are OK, too bad about your friends house. Hopefully they will find the poor little kitty!

It's so nice to hear a great story as you have, Larkin, of friends helping friends. And, giving them a warm place to stay, away from the damage, is wonderful! Let them also be excited about your new fish, maybe they will enjoy your ponds and find some relaxation and peace by your fish and water. I sure would, if I was in their position.
Prayers for those cause up in the horrific tornado, and hoping they find friends to help them out as you and your family did, Larkin.

I don't have any animals afraid of the thunder and lightening, but have in the past. My biggest dog, German Shepherd, was terrified of thunder, and also guns. She just could not stand the guns, would run away if not locked up in the house or yard when ex used to bring friends over to target practice. Poor dog. Now, the dogs don't even look up during a storm. Same with my inside cat. But, bet your cat was happy to have your body for security blanket, Lou!

My boy Bear is not afraid of the storms, or anything! But little Poppy just hates guns and thunderstorms. When there is a big storm in the middle of the night, Poppy wakes me to tell me the sky is falling! Then I must comfort and shelter the Poppy till the danger is past. Sometimes we hide on the bed under a blanket, makes her feel better.
