Nice to hear from you Big Lou! And Cathy Too:) :)

Above freezing, going to get my favorite cup of coffee from Tim Hortons and go for a big walk soon along the river road with the puppies. Will take a scarf and mits as I can't stand cold wind down my head and neck. Fingers need to have mittens to hold nice big warm cup of coffee. Will load the bad puppies soon! :) TWO DAYS OFF :D

Going back to Big Lou Sissy. I am feeling much better ladies. Cathy got the job she wanted so she had to start sooner than expected. Her new job is only 5 minutes from the house! So great! Watching less TV and less time on the computer has turned out to be really good for me. Those were not the only changes of course. Time for me to go. Slowly, slowly I will join in more conversations.

We sure appreciate everyone's well wishes.

Big Lou

Today at the river, air felt warmer, was a couple degrees above freezing today but the sun did not come out. We still had a nice walk... (puppies and me) :)

Very cold this morning. 24 degrees. Had a visitor today at lunch. Some kind of small falcon was stocking the bird feeders out front. These guys like to eat small birds and they are generally well feed. The first I have seen them this close to the house and he or she did not mind me being close.

Hey, ICSD, I hope someone identifies that falcon, as I've seen them around my place, too. They like to flow low to the fields, skimming maybe 3-5' above the ground. Really neat to watch them fly. I've never seen one near my bird feeders, but then I only have one tree close by, and it's only about 10' tall oak next to my goldfish pond.
GREAT NEWS Big Lou and Cathy, too! I agree with Sissy, good things happen to good people! So happy to hear your great news!!!
My ponds had a skim of ice this morning, as ICSD mentioned, it was in the 20's last night. Finally sun came out today, though. Going to "pull a Colleen" and try to keep everything running this winter, see how it does when things freeze. I'll watch it closely, and make sure don't have any tragedies! Since I built up the sides of the stream, I'm pretty sure that it should flow under any ice that forms, but we shall see. It will be an experiment year for me. Need to get the umbrella palm pulled out of the bog this weekend, as it's pretty much all dead now. Hoping it will be easier to pull out that thick set of roots now that it's dead, as it was a bugger to dig out a couple of starts of it to keep!

In the 20's once again, thin sheet of ice again, but all is well in my pond.
Hey everyone, lots of falling stars/meteorites/etc. in the sky tonight through the 14th! Amazing show going on up there. Catch it at night in YOUR sky!!! I'm hoping for clear skies again tonight. A friend said she spotted 7 of them this morning around 3 a.m. within less than 2 minutes. 13th and 14th are supposed to be the best nights for viewing the most! Since I wake up frequently, I'll surely see a good show. Soooo many stars out last night, but didn't know to watch for falling stars and meteor showers.

Quit raining here finally, now just cloudy and gray and 39*. Gotta take the neighbors puppies out again today and wipe their paws before they go back in. It's funny cuz they know to lift each paw.
They give me kisses while I wipe
