Ended up with 4 inches! Nice dry fluffy sticking snow.
Shovel job clearing the driveway.

Cold but clear and sunny day here on the Piedmont of Virginia.

I saw all five fantails this weekend during these milder temperatures.

I think they thought that springtime had arrived ...

....

ETA: Oddly, my lilypads and anacharis have survived the winter thus far.

This has been a weird winter. I feel like I say that most winters, but I've only had to shovel snow 3 times all year, and it was all within 2 weeks. The pond has been thawed most of the winter. Now we've been seeing temps in the 50°F's and close to 60°F today. Robins are back and active already. The forecast is looking like a lot more of the same. It might actually already be time to get the pond up and running. It's only been shut down for about a month and half!

It's 75°F! A chance for severe storms tonight.

And then the low temps for tonight are supposed to be around 18°F with windchills in the single digits. What a huge swing in temps.

it's rare for us to loose our power more than a couple hours

Same for us most of the time now but used to be a lot longer here years ago! Were w/o it for a week or more and only had a tiny generator that we had to switch out between things when needed. Now big one and less outages. Oh well better to be safe than sorry!
