48 here and threatening to rain. Got my tile job in basement almost done. Yesterday I had a butterfly show up in my indoor greenhouse! I set him free and now I have another! I guess either the milk crate or the lotus pot that I brought in last week had cocoons on them!

Our maples are just starting to bud, no leaves seen yet on anything. Last year we had peach flowers in early February. Then they froze.

Chilly. My two brave pups decided to take on a vicious prowler last night: a beaver. They won. That’s the shocker. Time to go bathe two muddy pups, and doctor the cuts they have, move the beaver body so I can take the hide, and then I’ll have to clean up myself. The smaller dog has a gash on his face, the bigger one has one on his shoulder. Not near as bad as I’d expect against a beaver! Those things are mean!

Holy crap. Much bigger than I expected. I only saw blood on one of its back paws. It was in the arroyo where flood water goes, so lucky for the dogs, wasn’t enough to drown them. It still has some of their fur in its teeth! That thing is heavy!

Just cleaned up after doctoring dogs. One now has purple face from vet spray, the others wound was much deeper than it looked, bled bad when I washed it, so he got superglued, and then wrapped like a gift. He’ll be anemic for a week or so, lost a lot of blood. But he will heal. He’s whining about the wrap, but I don’t need the house looking like a murder scene. Already cleaned the bathroom, he splashed blood up the walls. Pics are of them all doctored up. They will be unhappy inside for a while. Part husky, they like the cold. But the tan one will stay in till I know he’s good. And they’ll be on lines till I get them a fenced in area. Nope, not loosing my guard dogs to some rodent!

We got a rare nice day! And I’ve spent most of it working. Up at 5, gone by 6, just now headed home. Gosh darn it, I have flower bulbs to get dig up! Maybe tomorrow. I strained a muscle in my shoulder yesterday, felt it when I woke up. Using it hurts, but feels better after a bit, so just strain, nothing too serious.
