What does your pond look like ... Today?

There was quite a bit of ice build-up today. This was after I melted some off. Pretty cool formations, though. Still not sure when my de-icer/air stones are going to arrive, but I have a feeling it'll be after Christmas, so its going to be a long week or more, but at least I can enjoy the ice formations while I have them. Looking on the bright side of this disaster.

First time in years we have a consistent ice cover, it will get thicker with the lower temps coming.

Yep snowing here too and love it! We will be heading out for a chilly walk soon! In the 20's right now.

After an overnight snowfall we've had multiples of Robin, Varied Thrush, Nuthatch, Chestnut Backed Chickadee, Junco, Hummingbird, Starling, White Crowned Sparrow, House Sparrow, Wren, Bushtit, Flicker, Redwing Blackbird, Ruby Crowned Kinglet and Downy Woodpeckers visit this morning.

It's starting to snow

It’s about as cold as we ever get here today. The pond is trying to freeze over but the waterfall turbulence keeps a hole open. I’m cycling through three feeders to keep the hummingbirds fed. Every few hours the nectar freezes solid.

Not too much snow out there. The snowfall looks like it'll be winding down in the next hour or so.

Well, my pond is kind of ugly right now....no fish...no moving water - LOL ! I'm surprised how much algae is forming in the pond. I have to admit to being slightly relieved to not be worrying about my beloved koi during this cold snap.

Ponds went back to liquid will freeze again when we hit 12 this afternoon. A toasty 47 this am.
