Not sure where you lived in Virginia but I have been here since 2004 and it gets extremely dry in August and hot . I live 25 minutes from the NC border in the center of the state . What I hate is the horrible clay soil . Now I know why NJ was the garden state GREAT SOIL THERE . GAS WENT UP AGAIN . I had to go to the gas station and the dump . We will soon hit 4 dollars a gallon .Gosh I would love garbage pick up . But I did find 3 treasures at the dump and darn 4th one I could not reach. My pond this winter has only had ice in the waterfall pond
Wow you actually have a dump you can pick things up at? Our dump is a transfer station and they don't allow us in the pits, lol! We would get squished up in there when the walls moved in on us.

My pond is getting a lot of sun today and of course I will also out on my chilly walk :)

My city still has a dump like that too! ( though it is filling up fast so they are shutting in down in the next two years… )

We pay to dump in the county bvut city people get pick up at the curb . We pay 120.00 dollars a year and they have dumpsters and recycle dumpsters for plastic .cans ,glass and cardboard . Henry County has the same but you need a sticker in your window to dump in theirs and yet Pittsylvania County has no stickers and people from Henry County just drive in and dump . We used to get people from NC dumping in our dumpstes until they hired a person to be there and put up security cameras to take your license plate pic and then added a 10 foot fence with a double gate that gets locked and close the dump at dusk .,I have to drive 4 miles to the dump so I burn a lot of stuff in a burn barrel Well already 58 degrees and only a sprinkle of rain now and then . Supposed to be up to 69 and even middle 70's next couple of days . I can take that with a smile

Wow, you have some cool trees! Is that a fan palm in VA?? And a dwarf Japanese Maple?
It's a Chinese Windmill Palm and I'm in Washington state not VA. The palm is hardy here and I grew it from a seed I picked up at the zoo in Seattle many, many years ago.
Yep that's a Dwarf Japanese Maple I've had for many years. Dumps leaves in the pond so next Fall will add some bird netting just near that area and see how it goes.

Yes, I see that now (Washington State:) Then the palm must be VERY hardy..I had a Japanese maple over my pond in Virginia and it was a pita in the fall but I don’t think there is a prettier pond tree:)

Palm has survived some cold spells here down in the single digits so think it's gotten to a size now where I don't have to worry about it.
It's my favorite tree

Oh the helicopter seeds...Don't remind me...They were a nightmare... I am dealing with live oak leaves but at least they float for a long time so I can keep on top of it:)

Every country needs to unite if that happens both China and Russia Will stop the aggression. All borders need to be locked .
