Yea i was just about to top off the cistern as my water level had dropped but woke this morning to nice 50 degree and the snow is quickly retreating and a good rain last night and the cistern is beyond full. Can actualy see some of the water flowing over the falls it's been in an igloo for a month now.

BY THIS COMING SATURDAY THEY SAY WE WILL BE IN THE 60'S yippee . It was 47 at the flea market yesterday but with the cold wind it felt like 30 degrees . I have lots to do this week . Going to put new weather stripping on all the doors . I had a hard time finding it in stock , but finally after 2 lowes stores got enough of the screw on weather stripping for storm doors and regular doors . I already did all the door sweeps . I have to finish basement before new pellet stove gets here . I did 4 coats of drylock to make sure it is sealed and then put up roxul solid board panels to insulate them . Well accualy have to finish one wall f that yet . Then up to the attic to finish adding the roxul rockwool up there . That is over half finished . Tired of the blown in insulation settling . I put in 6 feet of in back in 2007 and it settled a lot and fluffing it up did not help . I want all areas of the house to be like a complete envelope . I had the blower door test done and danville utilities offers a rebate on it . So only cost me 55 dollars after rebate . Worth it as I found out every weak point in the house .Thermal imaging really does help . So far my all electric house bill went down 30 dollars to 78 dollars a month .

Well................. the lady we got lil bear from, we told her we wanted to get a pup to play with him. He is non stop in activity, our older Missy calm, old, slower. So she reached out to us early December, told us she was retiring one of her Studs, 2 year old Nico, from Russia. Asked if we were interested, as a play mate for Lil Bear. Of course it took me a whole minute to say yes (at the time driving to NJ to get our boat back to MD). About 2ish weeks later (after neuter, letting him recover) we went and picked him up. He was diaper trained, (keeps the boys from making babies). We have gotten him off diapers, currently on pee pads. Once we get nicer weather we are going to work on going only outside. He is still on diapers in the boat. Her boys with gals around tend to mark everything. therefore diapers.

He is 4.75 lbs, Bear 5.5, Missy 6.5 Missy is BOSS!

It took him about 2-3 weeks to relax, get into our house flow, start to play with lil bear. He had no clue what grass was, concrete, snow. She takes wonderful care of her pups, but all kept inside. They have almost the entire first floor as their living quarters.
When he wants our attention he barks, if we ignore then he throws his head back and howls, it is so darn cute!

They are in your face, lap, demand attention, darn smart, train us well! We love the lil ones. And never drop hair, their hair is like ours. A hair here and there but never shed

Nico howls to get my attention, if I ignore his bark. LiL Bear pushes the lid of the lappy shut or dances and whines if I ignore him.

WAS 68 YESTERDAY Gret day at the flea market and then came home and finished hanging the shelves and tool holder in my shed for all those garden tools and all those lawnmower repair parts . Got a great deal on air filters for cub cadets and gas filters . 3.88 for air filters bought the 9 left and for gas filters 1.99 for 12 of them . Then found oil filters for them for 2.99 clearance sale so picked up 12 of them . My cubbies are ready for summer . Got 3 brand new extreme 20 volt batteries for my dewalt drill and saw . 5 amp ones 40 dollars each and one 4 amp for 20 dollars . Not sure why they were on clearance , but win win for me HAPPY HAPPY ME

Here is a report from the second pond excavation. I have the hole covered with black plastic to prevent erosion and weeds and such. Yesterday, the husband called for me to come downstairs and outside. He said there was "a show at the pond hole." He was motioning for me to be quiet. I went outside and stood by the hole with him. In a couple of seconds, we heard scribbles, scrabbles, and peeps. Then, under the plastic, it looked like two little wind-up cars driving madly underneath the plastic. We are talking Speed Racer. We could hear them coming closer and then a little head peeked out right by our feet. He looked up, saw us, peeped and started all over.
Yes. Chipmunks have claimed my pond excavation. Hilarious but not great.
I think the smart thing to do will be to put a layer of concrete cloth under the underlayment and liner. We will see how much that is and how long I have to save for it! Arrrggh!

My pond is so clear when it's cold now but the fish seem to be loving the sunshine that glows through at them.
They have those feed me eyes starting to show

We have lil chipmunks, they have never bothered the pond, but our land is a bit of dirt with shale. Look into hardware cloth, not real expensive and it would stop them. Not sure of a cost comparison between it and concrete cloth.

I thought about hardware cloth, but since it is metal and could rust, isn't there a chance it could pierce the liner?

Not with a underlay between it and the pond. Carpet pad cardboard, something. I use the hardware cloth on a lot of my bee stuff it stands up pretty good to water. I have some in a pond to help make a save the land turtle climb out shelf. Been there for years now.
