I got in the pond today to fertilize the lilies one last time this year, as well as pulled quite a few yellowing pads, and moved one of my potted sedges away from the side I sit on to give me a more open view.

This photo was from before I did all that. You can't see too many yellow pads here, but quite a few were covered by other pads.

This photo doesn't make the pond look much different from yesterday's photo, but there's actually a big difference. So much easier to see the fish now.

Cardinal Flower in the bog, and Nodding Onion on the outside edge. I'm coming up with a plan next year to make a "patriotic" section of garden, featuring Cardinal Flower (red), Nodding Onion (white), and Great Blue Lobelia (blue).

@JBtheExplorer - I did the same thing on Saturday! My lily pads and floating hearts were looking sad, my yellow flag iris got iris borers and was 90% dead and everything just needed a good shaping up. So much better! The pond even looks a bit bigger!

The lilies are still blooming great, they love that osmocote I gave them in the fall. I have not fertilized them since.

The bees love the yellow snowflake flowers and drinking on the lily pads, there are few in the above picture taking a sip

I've never heard of that! It's on the invasive list for IL so that explains it!
Didn’t know that Lisa, that particular one has produced 4 plants in 3 months, the fry love to hide in them and when they drop to the bottom in winter the fish snuggle up in there!!!
