Rat snake or king snake maybe?

By the net it is a rat snake, it has a white spot on the back of its head, or it is a scale that got rubbed off. I followed it along the stream, think it is living under a bush near the waterfall, that is where it disappeared.

Do thoses snakes go in water like the grass snakes around here? Scary looking black rat snake!!!
