Algae is most common this time of the year and should die back as summer plants take over. The water looks awesome and I would just twirl the string algae off with a stick.
Only thing is I wish it was not so cold this March. Looks colder than normal and were getting minus 15 to -20 degree Celsius at nights this week. Thankful that the sun is shining bright and that really makes the cold much more tolerable.
hard to get rid of the string algae this time of year  tadpoles are everywhere!!

arggg...
I stayed home in the AM to get my duck eggs and realized my pond lost about 2 inches of water. Thought it was just from dryness but it was a little excessive so I walked around and found several places where the algae diverted the water out from the stream. Good thing I was there so I got a big bucket and scooped the algea with million other toad tads into the bucket. I really need to fix the stream edge or one day i'll loose my water this way :(

Left early this morning to get a cool start to a nice bicycle ride along the paved river trail. Then poof my hubby gets a flat. Tube stem busted off and no fixing that. He had to ride my bike back to the truck and then come pick me up at the park we found where I swung on the swings and waited for him. Back now to the hot rv park.

My pond has thawed out, and most of the snow around it is already gone! It melted surprisingly quick.
I think I may just get it running again early next week.
