I built a PVC frame to cover the pond for the fall and then this little guy popped up.
I'll wait a few more days before I put the cover over the frame.

I saw two frogs while I was feeding the fish today. They have started to spawn. The fish that is.

In 35 degree water it takes 144 days for them to hatch. Usually, March or April.

But the eggs will just rot or fish will eat them before then. Eggs can't really last through a winter can they?

Yes. This is the normal spawning time for Brook Trout. (speckled beauties). Sure, the fish will eat some eggs. They will also eat most of the fry in the spring. If they leave me with 25 I am happy. I've made some hideouts for them this year with rocks.

Maybe then w/your help you will have some that survive, maybe even more than 25.

True and yesterday I dug up 3 of the big ones at the back roots and all and it was not easy .I planted them in sand and soil because they are supposed to make it easier to dig them up ,they lied
